Travel Note
While you're on the island, check out the Block Island App to make getting around a little easier! Recommendations on Things To Do and a direct line to the taxis are all here!
Travel Note
We wish we could invite all of your little guys to join us, but it just got to be too many folks in the tent! Block Island is very kid (and dog child) friendly though, so we hope you bring them and we get to see them throughout the week! This is a great link for babysitting with local folks, but we kindly request that only children of the immediate family attend the reception

This is the town site with more information that we could ever dispense!

There are two options from Point Judith: the Traditional and the Hi-speed. Both options allow passengers without vehicles (and rarely sell out of passenger tickets) but the Traditional is the only ferry that accepts cars. If you would like to book a vehicle call this number: (866) 783-7996 ext 3. This is the only way to get your car onto the island and they sell out MONTHS in advance for weekend reservations. However you don't really need a car. The island is only 7 miles long and there are ample taxis and mopeds to rent. We recommend renting bicycles to work off those fish and chips! We will be providing shuttles from the reception to the ceremony and back again. The reception will be at the Block Island Maritime Institute. Which is a 15-20 minute walk from most hotels or a very quick cab ride. The point Judith Traditional ferry is a 1-hour trip and the Hi-Speed is 30 minutes. Also, if you are leaving your car in Point Judith, there are multiple parking lots available - and the cheapest option isn't necessarily the one across the street from the ferry station so we recommend driving around the whole loop before choosing.
Travel Note
The second most popular ferry to Block Island is from New London, Connecticut. You can drive (parking is available at/near the station) or Amtrak's New London station is located right across the street from the ferry. This is a Hi-Speed Passenger Ferry only (no cars; see Point Judith Ferry for more info) and the trip is approximately 1h15m. Yes, there is a bar.
Travel Note
There is ample parking at both ferries. Here is the low down of how to park at the ferry. Point Judith is going to be cheaper, and there are A LOT of ferries. I recommend passing the ferry docks on the right, continuing on Great Island Road keeping left at the fork, and then turning left again on the Galilee Connector Road. If you keep going left you will eventually do a large loop around the area and get back to the ferry. On this loop you will find cheaper parking options rather than the first lot you see next to the ferry. I know if you are related to Luke, not having a parking reservation could give you agita, but I have never seen these sell out. New London is more of a city, so if you want the cheapest option available I would try to reserve a spot at the boat itself. Otherwise, you will have to park at one of the many garages around the city which will be more expensive, but there are a lot of these so parking should be the least of your stresses! Please reach out to us with any more questions.

New England Airlines: Block Island has its own airport - and its small! It is a 15 minute flight from Westerly, Rhode Island and approximately $70. AND Amtrak goes to Westerly. Also, flights are DOG friendly! T. F. Green International Airport, Providence, R.I. Providence is the closest airport on the mainland. Not all major airlines or destinations fly direct here, but if you have the option to fly here, it is a 30 minute cab to the Point Judith Ferry. Logan International Airport, Boston, Massachusetts If you're coming from afar, Boston will most likely be your best bet. From here its a 1h30m cab to the Point Judith Ferry, or a Amtrak to South Kingston and a 15m cab to Point Judith.
Train
If you are taking the train from Boston the nearest Amtrak train station is South Kingston/Kingston RHODE ISLAND (Don't select New Hampshire!!). Then it is a $25 cab ride to Point Judith from there. If you are coming from New York City or Connecticut you should go to the New London CONNECTICUT train station and the ferry is right across the street. Pro tip: If you are coming from New York City take Metro North to New Haven and then switch to Amtrak to save on train fees (but there are more stops).
Travel Note
A lot of people have been asking if you need a car on Block Island. You do not. There are plenty of taxis, rental bikes and mopeds available for everyone. The beaches and restaurants are also walkable from most hotels. However if you do want to go further out and see the absolutely gorgeous countryside, you can rent a bike or scooter at this link - or from one of the many other rental guys on the island.

House rentals will be the best bet for those planning on staying all week and we've listed some great sites for those below. Otherwise, there are plenty of great hotels available for 2-3 (or more) night stays. If a hotel says "no availability" it could just be because the dates you entered don't meet their minimum night requirement. I'll be honest, sometimes (often) it is much easier just to call them. We have a block of 25 rooms at The National Hotel which THEY ARE ONLY HOLDING FOR US UNTIL MAY 23. CODE WORD BUCK. There are lots of other great options too. Helpful sites below. Lily and I will be on the island all week (8/18 - 8/25) and would welcome an opportunity to spend more time with you. We'll have fun events planned all week (fishing trips, hiking, yoga) but also totally understand if you can only join us for a couple of days. Either way, we can't wait to show you our special island.

We will be there all week! Planning on having lots of fun stuff happening - bonfires on the beach, fishing, food, hiking, yoga and all the amazing things to do on Block. We hope others will be able to stay the week too!

This is the wedding block until 5/23! The block is for Friday and Saturday night, if you would also like to book Thursday, they have rooms available, you just have to call the hotel. For some reason the block doesn't work online when you try to put in three nights. Code word BUCK!

Hotel
This option is right across the street from the reception, but further from town. It has a 3-night minimum so, if it's saying that there is "no availability" when you put in 2 nights, that's why. But the rates here are pretty reasonable. Town (where most accommodations are), is only a 20 minute walk away or short cab.
