Worth stopping by to see the murals painted by Brother Joseph Carignano, an untrained artist who worked as a cook in the mission. Next to the church is a small museum that talks about the founding of the mission and information about the Flathead Indian Reservation.
This is a great museum that features a wonderful collections of Indian art and photos with a lot of information specific to the Flathead Reservation. They also have a great gift shop. There is also an easy trail walk along a waterfowl preservation reserve.
If you are lucky you will see a herd of bison on the left as you drive up the hill between Ravalli and St. Ignatius. Alternatively you can taken the self guided drive through the range (plan for around 2 hours). The Range is now owned and operated by the Confederated Salish Kootenai Tribes.
For those that are wishing to extend your time, we are approximately 2 hours south of Glacier National Park.
