Our Wedding Day

February 6, 2021

When we heard Covid-19 was coming back swinging in late November 2020, our hearts broke. The huge wedding celebration of our dreams would either have to be postponed or cancelled altogether—so we made the difficult decision to get married in a small ceremony with just a handful of family and friends in attendance. Even though it wasn't our original plan, it was a beautiful day: fresh snow blanketed the ground and it was an astounding -1,000,000° outside in Wayzata, Minnesota. Okay, not actually. But it felt like it. Not even the wedding-day jitters could keep us warm. We got ready in the company of our dearest friends, we worshipped together, and we even ran out of the sanctuary before we were *officially* pronounced husband and wife. If you weren't able to be there, we missed you deeply. But now, the pandemic is behind us. And it's time to rage.

How We Met

Oh boy. We don’t have a succinct way to tell this story yet...if you know, you know. All the way back in 2013, Lilli was at a youth group winter camp at Big Sandy Camp in McGregor, MN, when she laid eyes on a super hot worship leader. A couple years later, an intern at her church lived with this worship leader; he promised to buy her coffee if she got her entire youth group to shout, “Korey, you’re gorgeous!” every time he walked into the room at camp that year. In all of her 18-year-old invincible-ness, the weekend ended with a poorly executed serenade (“Stay Beautiful” by Taylor Swift, of course), among other things. Isn’t that how all the great love stories begin? Obviously there’s a lot of ground to cover between shameless high school girl swooning over too-cool college worship leader, and Korey eventually getting down on one knee: the music theory homework aid, the out-of-nowhere texts, the coffee/lunch/dinner not-dates, the time Korey said she was “really cool” when she asked him out but just wasn’t into her, the six month hiatus when Lilli ended their friendship...the list goes on. Maybe someday you’ll hear the extended edition, if you haven’t already. We’re just glad we made it here.
