"How complete my life would be, if you would take things under consideration, and walk down the aisle with me."

Seth was in a band with an old friend of Lillian's, and on June 19, 2021, they played a small Alice in Wonderland themed festival in a small town hours outside of Des Moines that no one can seem to remember the name of. Lillian immediately had eyes for Seth, who was oblivious, causing her to jokingly refer to him as her future husband behind his back. They became close through working on music together.

For several months, they spent time together nearly every day and shared a love of live music, art, old movies, cooking, and new adventures. On November 27, 2021, they sat down at Library Cafe on University late at night to talk about taking their relationship to the next level because they realized that they had slowly fallen in love. After that, they went to Target to buy cheap trinkets (including break-open geode kits and a tiny painting spinning wheel) and went home to watch movies all night.

Their band had recently released an EP and were hosting a party/concert on August 5, 2023 at xBk Live in Des Moines to celebrate and showcase their new music. At the end of their band's set, Seth asked her if she would do him a favor. She said, "Sure," because she assumed he was going to ask her to help carry his music gear off stage. Seth pulled something out from behind his guitar amp, got down on one knee, and said, "Will you marry me?" Of course, Lillian said "Yes!" and the crowd went wild. They went out to one of their favorite late night date spots, Pho Real on Court downtown, to celebrate.
