In Israel, it's customary for guests to contribute money as a gift to the newlyweds. This practice is called "Shekel Hamizvah". The money serves to support the couples life together and can help offset wedding expenses. The custom reflects the importance of community and solidarity in Israeli culture as family and friends come together to support and celebrate the union.
