We’re asking guests to arrive at 4:40pm on June 2nd at our beach house (2713 S Virginia Dare Trail, Nags Head, NC). HOWEVER, please keep in mind that all of the parking spots at the house are RESERVED for vendors. So please budget in time to find street parking, or Uber.
This is a small, intimate wedding! We’re anticipating around 40 people (including us, family, and the wedding party).
So we’re having a newlywed/furniture fund that we’d really appreciate contributions to! There’s also a registry if you feel the need to buy us a gift but we’d really appreciate contributions to our fund :)
We wanted this wedding to be a celebration of us, our heritage, and our friends. In doing so, the ceremony is going to be western (Lijia will wear a white wedding dress), but during the reception, we will be changing into Chinese clothing. We’re encouraging our guests to also change into something traditional according to their own heritage (hanbok, qipao, etc) so we can also celebrate the diversity of our friend group. You can also remain in your ceremony clothes and change out the accessories (jewelry for women, ties/ Cufflinks for men). All of this is optional of course!
Yes! We’re getting married on 06/02, and the following morning, we will have brunch. In the afternoon/evening we will be relaxing on the beach and celebrating the Chinese Dragon Festival (a festival that’s big in Lijia’s hometown). For dinner, we will eat homemade dumplings (that we’ll make together), along with other Chinese food!
You can browse all of the photos of the beach house on this website! The house has a special name - Belldune. https://www.carolinadesigns.com/nags-head-vacation-rental/610-belldune/
White and black are mourning colors traditionally worn during Chinese funerals. Therefore, it’s considered bad luck to wear those colors to a wedding. While red is a lucky color, it is usually reserved for the bride and groom on wedding day. Wearing red as a guest would be seen as impolite as it will be perceived as trying to upstage the bride/groom.
Due to our limited capacity, we are asking guests to find their own accommodations. Please look at the travel page for more information!
YES! For guests whose accommodations are too far, or for guests who are coming in for the day only, we are going to set up rooms as general female/male changing rooms. Please note that these rooms will be shared so you might end up sharing the rooms with other girls/guys. On that note, please use your discretion when opening/closing doors to allow for maximum privacy.
