Lijia’s hometown in China is famous for the dragon festival, which is coincidentally on June 3rd, 2022! According to mythology, a hero hid in the river in order to hide from his enemies. To make sure he didn’t starve, locals tossed 粽子 (ZongZi, rice balls) into the water. Nowadays, we celebrate by making dumplings and ZongZi and eating them while watching the dragon boats race. So we’ll be making dumplings and ZongZi and enjoying them for dinner!
