If you are familiar with Blacksburg, Virginia then you probably know of Big Al's. This bar is where a lot of stories begin, but for many it is also where they meet their fuzzy ends. This was not the case for Eric and I. It all started with a pineapple and vodka. Yes that's right: a pineapple and vodka. This is usually the beginning of a much different story, but if you know us, you know we don't do things the usual way. I truly cannot believe I owe meeting the love of my life to Big Al’s. You know that kind of annoying guy you meet once in a bar who then proceeds to inundate you with messages and even a few cheesy pick up lines? Well that guy was Eric. Following a few weeks of these sorts of texts, snap chats, Instagram comments, and all other forms of social media advances (a true millennial love tale), I finally gave in and in true Amanda fashion, texted him saying, “You may take me on a date.” We went to a winery just outside of Blacksburg called, Chateau Morrisette. We drank wine, we laughed, and I listened to Eric explain how the wooden beams were structurally fundamental to the integrity of the building. I really had no idea what he was talking about but I have come to find listening to Eric teach me things and story tell are some of my all time favorite memories. I remember everything about that date. I remember walking up to my front door after he dropped me off smiling from the inside out. I remember sitting with my roommate gabbing about our date and her jokingly ask me if I was going to marry him. Here we are. I cannot wait to marry my forever adventure partner and take on this life as one. We thank you so much for being a part of our special day.
