How We Met

May 1, 2021

Hello everyone and welcome to our page! Here are some highlights of our backgrounds before our story! Lidia grew up in South Florida. She is a daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and proud aunt of 5 nieces who lovingly call her Aunt Lidi. Lidia graduated with a bachelor's, two master's degrees and two certifications. Lidia is currently a teacher for the visually impaired at a high school and works a second job with Starbucks. Lawrence grew up in Louisiana and Texas. He is a son, brother, brother-in-law, and proud uncle of 3 nieces and a nephew. Lawrence dedicated his life to missionary work out of high school and studied to receive his undergraduate degree in Theology and, in Marriage and Family. Lawrence works as a CNA and begins nursing school in the fall. Lawrence's goal is to enter a doctorate program to become a CRNA. Lidia and Lawrence met on CatholicMatch on May 1, 2020 after Lidia initiated a simple message which stated, "Blessed feast of St. Joseph the Worker! Welcome to CM!" Soon after they corresponded through emails, chats, and video chats before agreeing to meet each other in person the for the first time on June 30th. After Lidia's week long stay in Louisiana, they discerned to begin a committed relationship and Lawrence visited South Florida 2.5 weeks later. Lidia relocated to Lafayette mid-August with the intention of relocating back to Florida if their relationship fizzled by December. Their relationship became stronger and he asked for Lidia's hand on January 9, 2022. Although their intent was to marry the Fall of 2022, they discerned to marry sooner with the encouragement of their spiritual advisors. So they jumped all in and haven't look back! Their original venue was to be an outdoor wedding at the Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche, but given the wedding would no longer take place in the fall, the summer would lead them to the Cathedral of St. Augustine; but God had other plans and they have laughed ever since! In short, our stories have bonded us closer through tears, laughter, and understanding beyond the shadow of any doubt that God wrote our individual stories to find each other. Thank you for helping form us on the sojourn before, during, and after we met. We pray to be a sign of hope in God's promise and answered prayers. Be assured of our prayers for your special intentions! Holy Family, pray for us!
