LOCATED IN PORTLAND There is also one on the west side of the city. They’re classic and worth checking out for the ambiance alone. And the doughnuts of course. They have a lot of funky flavors and some goofy things on the menu you can order. This is actually where Libby went with her friends after senior year prom!
LOCATED IN PORTLAND If you’re traveling to Portland the Japanese Gardens are worth a visit. They’re beautiful, serene, and peaceful. If you have older children it would be okay, but not as good for toddles or littles who want to run around and get their energy out.
LOCATED BETWEEN PORTLAND AND CORVALLIS This is a wonderful stop on your way from Portland to Corvallis. It is right off of Interstate 5, which you will be taking driving from Portland to Corvallis - you can literally see it from the highway. They have great wine, and the view of the Valley is spectacular! Definitely worth a stop, particularly on a nice day when you can sit out on the patio (which is pretty large). As it is a winery, it isn't perfect for kids... But they do have a good amount of space and particularly if you can sit outside we recommend stopping there. They also have food.
LOCATED BETWEEN PORTLAND AND CORVALLIS This is a little off the beaten path (i.e., you'll take the scenic route rather than I-5 from Portland to Corvallis) but worth it if you have the time. The winery is beautiful and they have world-class wines. Matt and I just visited for the first time when we flew back to Oregon this spring for wedding planning. It was beautiful!
LOCATED ON THE OREGON COAST There are many great places to go crabbing if you'd like to try it out! It's not quite crab season in July, but you'll still have fun and pull crabs up in your pot. We used to love crabbing when we lived in Eugene for a few months and went frequently. It's super easy and would be good for kids if you're looking to spend a few extra days and have the time to drive an hour to the coast. It's beautiful as well.
LOCATED IN CORVALLIS This is a beautiful arboretum just outside of town. There are plenty of hiking/walking trails and many are easy - good for kids! The trails are well marked and we have been hiking here a few times together. Most recently we used it as a quick escape while we were in town wedding planning!
LOCATED IN CORVALLIS About a 30-45 minute drive from Corvallis, Mary's Peak is the tallest peak in Oregon's coast range. There are lots of hiking trails and/or you can drive all the way to the top for beautiful views! Libby and Matt both enjoyed hiking here while at OSU!
LOCATED IN CORVALLIS This is walking distance (a few minutes!) from the wedding hotel along the river and is a fun option if you're looking for something to do Saturday morning. Open from 9am - 1pm. They've got great fresh produce, berries, music, and usually breakfast options too.
We met at OSU - and the infamous handshake happened in Strand Agricultural Hall! It's a beautiful campus and with school being out for summer, it should be a nice/calmer time to walk around. The coffee shop in the Memorial Union should still be open during summer as well... Many of Matt & Libby's classes were in Wilkinson Hall off of Monroe Street, where there are lots of restaurants.
