Things To Do

We are excited to share some recommendations with you! They're grouped geographically, so be sure to check where each activity or place is while planning your trip. We have things to do in: Portland Corvallis Oregon (general) Corvallis is about an hour and a half drive south of Portland - and we've also included some things to do near the coast, which is generally an hour and a half due west, coming from either Portland or Corvallis.
Voodoo Doughnut, Too!

Voodoo Doughnut, Too!

1501 Northeast Davis Street, Portland, OR 97232
, (503) 235-2666

LOCATED IN PORTLAND There is also one on the west side of the city. They’re classic and worth checking out for the ambiance alone. And the doughnuts of course. They have a lot of funky flavors and some goofy things on the menu you can order. This is actually where Libby went with her friends after senior year prom!

Oregon Zoo

Oregon Zoo

4001 Southwest Canyon Road, Portland, OR 97221
, (503) 226-1561

LOCATED IN PORTLAND The zoo! This is great if you've got kids. Libby and her family used to go here all the time growing up. We recommend (if you like birds) going into the Lorikeet enclosure and feeding the birds nectar.

Portland Japanese Garden

Portland Japanese Garden

Portland, OR 97205

LOCATED IN PORTLAND If you’re traveling to Portland the Japanese Gardens are worth a visit. They’re beautiful, serene, and peaceful. If you have older children it would be okay, but not as good for toddles or littles who want to run around and get their energy out.

Willamette Valley Vineyards

Willamette Valley Vineyards

8800 Enchanted Way SE, Turner, OR 97392
, 503-588-9463

LOCATED BETWEEN PORTLAND AND CORVALLIS This is a wonderful stop on your way from Portland to Corvallis. It is right off of Interstate 5, which you will be taking driving from Portland to Corvallis - you can literally see it from the highway. They have great wine, and the view of the Valley is spectacular! Definitely worth a stop, particularly on a nice day when you can sit out on the patio (which is pretty large). As it is a winery, it isn't perfect for kids... But they do have a good amount of space and particularly if you can sit outside we recommend stopping there. They also have food.

Domaine Serene Winery

Domaine Serene Winery

6555 Northeast Hilltop Lane, Dayton, OR 97114
, (503) 864-4600

LOCATED BETWEEN PORTLAND AND CORVALLIS This is a little off the beaten path (i.e., you'll take the scenic route rather than I-5 from Portland to Corvallis) but worth it if you have the time. The winery is beautiful and they have world-class wines. Matt and I just visited for the first time when we flew back to Oregon this spring for wedding planning. It was beautiful!

Crabbing on the Oregon Coast - Many Locations (e.g. at Kelly's Brighton Marina)

Crabbing on the Oregon Coast - Many Locations (e.g. at Kelly's Brighton Marina)

29200 U.S. 101, Rockaway Beach, OR 97136
, (503) 368-5745

LOCATED ON THE OREGON COAST There are many great places to go crabbing if you'd like to try it out! It's not quite crab season in July, but you'll still have fun and pull crabs up in your pot. We used to love crabbing when we lived in Eugene for a few months and went frequently. It's super easy and would be good for kids if you're looking to spend a few extra days and have the time to drive an hour to the coast. It's beautiful as well.

Peavy Arboretum

Peavy Arboretum

NW Arboretum Road, Corvallis, OR 97330

LOCATED IN CORVALLIS This is a beautiful arboretum just outside of town. There are plenty of hiking/walking trails and many are easy - good for kids! The trails are well marked and we have been hiking here a few times together. Most recently we used it as a quick escape while we were in town wedding planning!

Mary's Peak

Mary's Peak

Siuslaw National Foreset, OR 97370

LOCATED IN CORVALLIS About a 30-45 minute drive from Corvallis, Mary's Peak is the tallest peak in Oregon's coast range. There are lots of hiking trails and/or you can drive all the way to the top for beautiful views! Libby and Matt both enjoyed hiking here while at OSU!

Corvallis Farmers' Market

Corvallis Farmers' Market

Northwest 1st Street, Corvallis, OR 97330
, (541) 740-1542

LOCATED IN CORVALLIS This is walking distance (a few minutes!) from the wedding hotel along the river and is a fun option if you're looking for something to do Saturday morning. Open from 9am - 1pm. They've got great fresh produce, berries, music, and usually breakfast options too.

Oregon State University

Oregon State University

Corvallis, OR 97331
, (541) 737-1000

We met at OSU - and the infamous handshake happened in Strand Agricultural Hall! It's a beautiful campus and with school being out for summer, it should be a nice/calmer time to walk around. The coffee shop in the Memorial Union should still be open during summer as well... Many of Matt & Libby's classes were in Wilkinson Hall off of Monroe Street, where there are lots of restaurants.

Squirrels Tavern

Squirrels Tavern

100 Southwest 2nd Street, Corvallis, OR 97333
, (541) 753-8057

LOCATED IN CORVALLIS This is one of our favorite places in Corvallis! They have great burgers, beer, and games upstairs (pool, pinball, etc.). It is CASH ONLY!

Baguette Vietnamese Sandwiches

Baguette Vietnamese Sandwiches

121 Southwest 3rd Street, Corvallis, OR 97333
, (541) 752-9960

LOCATED IN CORVALLIS Yummy sandwich shop downtown Corvallis! You're in for a treat if you like Vietnamese sandwiches. Very tasty and within walking distance of the wedding hotel.

For all the days along the way
