Question

Will my phone work in Italy?

Answer

Your U.S. phone will only work in Italy with an international data plan or if you buy an international eSIM. Free WiFi is largely available in commercial buildings (airports, restaurants, etc.), but if you want your phone to function as normal, we personally recommend purchasing an eSIM through the app, Airalo. The best way to do so is to download the app, purchase your plan, and install your eSIM in the app prior to leaving the U.S. Upon arrival in Italy, activate your eSIM by turning on your new line in your cellular settings and enable data roaming. What is the dress code?

Answer

All events will be held outdoors, weather permitting. Friday’s welcome party will be garden party attire. Think jump suits or dresses for the women and smart shirts and trousers for the men. No ties needed, and sport coats are optional. The piazza has gravel paving, so choose footwear accordingly. Saturday we’d love to see you in your finest suits and dresses, but not black-tie. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will take place on grass lawns, so again please choose your footwear accordingly. Sunday is casual for the pool party. Swim suits are encouraged, but we recommend you have a shirt or coverup for lunch. Towels will be provided.

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

This will be an “unplugged ceremony”. We ask that you please refrain from taking photos during the ceremony and turn your phones to silent (or off). We've hired fabulous photographers to capture the day, including taking photos of our lovely guests.

Is it easy to get an Uber?

Answer

No. Uber, Lyft, etc. do not operate in this part of Italy. We highly recommend renting a car, using public transportation, or pre-booking a taxi for transportation to and from the airport or to travel into nearby Lucca. Please see the Travel page for more information.

What’s the best way to get a taxi?

Answer

If you need a taxi from the airport, your best option is to book a private car or taxi in advance. Local taxis are available at both airports, but will cost more. Around Lucca, you can: -Ask your hotel to order a taxi for you; -Get a taxi at dedicated stands located at the railway station (Piazzale Ricasoli), Piazza Santa Maria, and Piazza Napoleone; -Call Radiotaxi Lucca +39 0583 1745 or Lucca Taxi Consortium +39 0583 333434; -Use the appTaxi app or ItTaxi app. Ubers are not available to or around Lucca.

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes, there is ample parking at the venue. Nonetheless, we encourage you to choose one of the hotels within walking distance to ensure everyone gets home safely. Uber does not operate in the area and taxis are hard to come by unless pre-booked.

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Plus ones are by invitation only. We have chosen a smaller venue, because we want to be able to share our special day with those nearest and dearest to us and to be able to spend time with each of our guests. Please refer to the names listed on your invitation.

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes, we are happy to accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions! Please be sure to let us know when you RSVP.

Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

Yes, we will have a wedding registry. You will be able to find all the details on the Registry page of our website. This is still under construction, so please check back later! Please note, due to travel limitations, we kindly request that you do not bring any boxed gifts on the day.

Are there mosquitos in Tuscany?

Answer

Yes. We will have bug spray available at each event, but please feel free to bring your own if you have a favourite. We recommend leaving your windows closed in your hotel rooms.
