This is our food vendor! What drew us to Breaking Bread in the first place was their amazing local nonprofit called Appetite for Change. From their website: Appetite for Change is a community-led nonprofit that uses food as a tool to build health, wealth, and change through youth programs, urban farming, and cooking workshops. It also partners with other local organizations to provide meals to those who need them. We were inspired by the work that Appetite for Change does in our communities and wanted to support these efforts – but we also chose this caterer because they make delicious food! After sampling nearly everything on their Cafe menu, we were sufficiently convinced that they have it all. We can't wait to break bread with you on our wedding day!
We stumbled upon Alexandra Phipps and her sweet daughter at a wedding fair this winter, and knew immediately that we wanted her to make our dessert. Alexandra is originally from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and now lives with her husband and daughter in St. Paul. A self-taught baker, Alexandra started her small business after friends and family encouraged her to chase her dream. Her creations feature the South American flavors and treats that she grew up with. The dessert we've selected for our wedding is called an alfajor, which is a delicious shortbread cookie sandwich with a filling, traditionally dulce de leche. Libby and her brothers ate them all the time when her family lived in Argentina, and they hold special significance to her. We can't wait for you to try Alexandra's tasty treats!
This winery was co-founded by Erik's dad, Peter Hemstad, in 1992, when Erik was a toddling two-year-old and Peter was the viticulturist and grape breeder at the University of Minnesota. During his tenure at the U of M, Peter helped develop and release Frontenac, La Crescent, Frontenac gris, Marquette, and Itasca grape varieties, all cold hardy, disease resistant, and high quality wine and table grapes. These varieties are now widely grown throughout the northern tier of the U.S. and Canada. Erik has countless memories of growing up and working at St. Croix Vineyards, and we still faithfully keep a large stock of SCV wine in our coffers at all times.
This is our venue! But it is actually much more than a great spot to get married alongside goats and pigs and ducks. Gibbs is run by the Ramsey County Historical Society, and provides a glimpse into both ninteenth century pioneer and Dakota daily life. Gibbs staff host many school field trips and offer tours for the public daily – in fact, there is a tour at 3 pm the day of our wedding, if you are interested in learning more about Gibbs!
Stacey is our day-of coordinator and the owner of Rosaire Studio Weddings and Events. From her career in project management, she realized her passion for events and decided to pursue her dream of wedding and event planning. She has now been in the event industry for 3 years and has coordinated over 40 weddings and events. We first met Stacey at Colorful Weddings wedding fair, and immediately asked her to be our day-of coordinator (when you know, you know!) – and have never looked back. As she says, and we can confirm, "Wedding and event planning is my passion project. I pour myself into each event to make sure it’s what you want, and that you have ease of mind to enjoy it leading up to and throughout the day." We can't wait for you to meet Stacey!
Lee Vue is our esteemed photographer. A native of St. Paul, Lee actually went to high school with Libby and her brothers, and is close friends with several of our wedding guests! On top of being great at taking photos, Lee is a multitalented creative professional who works in digital marketing, content creation, graphic design, and analytics. She is also an avid environmental activist and enthusiastic alumnus of YWCA Camp Menogyn. When Lee is not at work or canoeing in the Boundary Waters, she can also be found coaching girls badminton at her alma mater Central High School and supporting her communities in myriad other ways that we can never keep up with. We can't wait for you to get to know Lee at our wedding!
