Question

What does the dress code "get larney in Mopani" mean?

Answer

Larney is South African cultural slang meaning smart/fancy, i.e. formal. We don't recommend stilettos but whatever makes you happy!

Question

How do I find my way from Phalaborwa to Mopani?

Answer

There is a shop at the gate, we recommend you buy a map of Kruger there. (If you are the planning sort, and would like to review ahead of time, these are also available at Exclusive Books and CNA). There are generally sign posts at major intersections within the park but with unreliable signal, a map is key!

Question

Do I need a 4x4 to get there?

Answer

No. While there are dirt roads as well, there is a tarred road to Mopani.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Mopani is situated in Limpopo province. While it's impossible to predict, we estimate around 24-28 degrees Celsius during the day, dropping to about 20-24 degrees in the evening.

Question

Will I have cell phone signal?

Answer

When you are driving through the park the signal comes and goes. Within the camp there is signal, no Wifi though.

Question

Is there malaria in the area?

Answer

Yes, the Kruger National Park is in a malaria zone. Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist about anti-malaria medication options for you and your little ones.

Question

Can I arrive at Mopani on the day of the wedding?

Answer

We wouldn't advise this. Camp check-in time is 2pm and the wedding starts at 2.15pm. Plus, driving in the park can be unpredictable as you never know what you'll find en route. As such, we're hoping everyone will take the opportunity to extend their weekend a little more and join us on the Friday evening.

Question

Can my kids come to the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Unfortunately SANParks does not allow children at the site. That said, babysitters (camp staff) can be arranged to look after your little ones. Please contact Rose at 0137356535/6 or Rose.Lekhuleni@sanparks.org to arrange.

Question

What is the conservation fee?

Answer

As a National Park, there is an additional conservation cost for any visitors to Kruger. The fees for April 2019 are as follows: South African citizens and residents: R93/adult/day, R47/child/day; SADC Nationals: R186/adult/day, R93/child/day; Foreign visitors: R372/adult/day, R186/child/day. This needs to be paid in full when you check-in at Mopani. If you have a valid WildCard for Kruger, or all National Parks, there is no additional conservation fee.

Question

Where can I stay for the wedding?

Answer

SANParks rules do not allow travel out of the park after dark and as such, all our guests will need to stay at Mopani. Please look at Mopani Accommodation under the travel section for more details.

Question

How do we book and pay for accommodation?

Answer

Once you've RSVPed, we will email you with the total costs and bank details. If you could pay within a month of RSVPing, that would be appreciated. If this is not possible (we know life happens and unexpected costs abound), let us know and we will do our best to make a plan that works for you.

Question

What about presents?

Answer

We are aware we have chosen a logistically inconvenient spot for our wedding. Having you share our special day is gift enough so please consider your presence, our present.
