FAQs

Question

What's the theme? Doesn't every wedding have a theme?

Answer

We've planned this entire shindig within a few days, so the theme is loose, but it is something along the lines of "gothic Halloween masquerade." The murder mystery story takes place in 1700s Venice, Italy (but the bride and groom will admittedly not be in 1700s attire, so no pressure). Please reference the iconic dreamy masquerade sequence of David Bowie's "Labyrinth" if you need inspo. Or text Lexie.

Question

So what is the dress code?

Answer

We kindly request that you wear/bring a masquerade mask and dawn your best cocktail hour dress. If you are taking part in the Masquerade Murder Mystery portion of the night, you were assigned role in your invitation that likely included costume suggestions. If those suggestions feel a bit too gaudy for your liking, you can always bring additional clothing to change into after the ceremony. Also, please refrain from wearing all black, if possible!

Question

What time should we arrive?

Answer

Please plan on arriving by 5:00 pm at 2814 E. 13th Ave. The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:15 pm. Once you arrive, please head directly to the courtyard at the back of the residence to find your seat.

Question

What's going to happen after the ceremony? A human sacrifice, mayhaps?

Answer

Once we've made it official, guests will stroll on up to our (hopefully) appropriately decorated home and take part in some appetizers and drinks (alcoholic and nonalcoholic). Trevor and I will stay downstairs with our photographer and do that sort of thing for a little bit. Once we've returned, we will make our way to our dining room and have a wonderfully cozy and intimate dinner catered by the exceptionally talented Sarah Nelson. Toasts will maybe happen, the pregnant bride will likely shed many tears...it'll be a whole thing. Once we're adequately satiated, our officiant and Murder Mystery Host extrodinaire, Dan Rib, will kick off the Masquerade Murder Mystery portion of the evening. If we had to guess...the night will end around 11:00 pm. Or once the bride calls it quits and decides to retire to her sleeping quarters. If there are any changes to the flow of the evening, we will be sure to text you all ahead of time.

Question

...and your Baby Shower is two weeks after this?

Answer

Correct! Mark your calendars! All who are invited to this party are also invited to our Baby Shower on Sunday, November 16th at 2:00 pm. Your official invite should arrive in the mail shortly.
