Coltin and Lexie met in July of 2023. Coltin and Lexie were both using the Hinge app, when Coltin scrolled across a picture of Lexie with her dog, Maeve, in one of the photos. Coltin messaged Lexie asking if that was her dog, and noting the dog was adorable. Coltin then asked if Maeve liked ice cream, and if Maeve would like to go on an ice cream date with him the following weekend, noting Lexie can join if she would like. During their first date, Coltin and Lexie bonded over similar fields of employment, their shared love of food and dogs, and sitting on the patio. Coltin and Lexie took Maeve on a walk to a nearby ice cream shop, and Coltin bought Maeve her very own ice cream cone. Following the date, Coltin walked Lexie and Maeve home. Upon returning, Maeve went in for a kiss. Lexie made fun that Maeve got the first date and the first kiss. Following that, Lexie and Coltin’s relationship quickly grew closer. Maeve quickly chose Coltin as her favourite person and would scream when he came over for a visit, getting so excited for snuggles with him. Fast forward 2 years later, in July 2025, when Coltin proposed, he decided to bring in elements from the first date. While on an anniversary camping trip, sitting around the fire, Coltin put a bandana on their newest addition, their puppy, Bruce that read “Mommy, will you marry my Daddy? I already told him yes from me!”. Coltin then got down on one knee, and said he needed to do this the way it started. Coltin pulled out a ring shaped plushie dog toy, called Maeve over, and proposed to her first. He then proposed to Lexie and she said yes. Following the proposal, he pulled out a custom bandana for Maeve that read “My humans are getting married!”
