The Bear Creek Trail is a must-do for those who visit Telluride in summer and fall. The view of Bear Creek Falls is well worth the trek up 1,050 feet in elevation. The beautiful and well-marked wooded trail ends in a magnificent set of waterfalls.
Feeling a bit more adventurous? Look no further than the Telluride Via Ferrata. The route precariously traverses rock faces up to 600 feet above the forest floor below, and offers exhilarating exposure in sections that would be impassable without the fixed steel cables and holds along the way. The Telluride Via Ferrata provides unmatched views of Bridal Veil Falls (the highest free falling waterfall in Colorado), the town of Telluride in the distance, and the surrounding peaks of the San Juan Mountains. You can rent the gear or book a guided tour (we suggest guided! You'll learn a lot more about the area that way!)
There are hundreds of miles of mountain biking in the Telluride area. This is a great way to see and experience more terrain and get your cardio in too! Mellow cross country riding or epic downhill, Telluride has it all. The best part- you can rent a bike (and all the other gear you need) right from Mountain Village. Descend from the village to town, climb the hill up or toss your bike on the Gondola bike rack and make your way up to San Sophia Station. Certain terrain does require you to buy a bike park pass so make sure you chat with the bike shops before you head out to make sure you can access the terrain you're going for!
With some of the finest trout streams in the Rocky Mountains, and a variety of lakes, ponds and alpine creeks, Telluride is an angler’s paradise. To make the most of your fishing outing, we recommend learning the waterways and surrounding terrain with the help of a local guide. With an outfitter, you can also choose a float fishing trip or access private waters.
This is a great way to get into the gorgeous high alpine wilderness of the Telluride area without having to hike or bike. Epic views, ghost town visits, waterfalls and more. Not to mention a local guide giving you the 411 on the flora and fauna, the mountains around you and the mining history of the area.
