There was positive energy in the air as Lexi was just beginning her freshman year at the University of Alabama the Fall of 2014. There were so many new things, college classes, living in a dorm, joining a sorority, making new friends…so much new felt so very right. That feeling continued on to one September evening when the Phi Mu Sorority & SAE Fraternity held a party where Lexi and Brett met and their story began. They were immediately drawn to one another and had great conversation and synergy. Brett was a sophomore so he had already experienced “BAMA” but being a new pledge had a freshness to it as well. After that night, the two forged a great friendship that would continue through the Fall, Spring and Summer, until they decided to commit to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend in August of 2015. They have been together ever since! Brett and Lexi have experienced many milestones during this time. They supported each other through hard times, and great times (Hello- Three National Football Championships!!). They had a mutual respect for each other that is both understanding and graceful. They balanced each other’s weaknesses perfectly and together let each other grow and shine in their strengths. As time grew, so did their commitment and love to each other. Together, they had a great college experience and, in many ways, grew up together through the trials and tribulations of college life! Family has always been at the core of their relationship. Even though Lexi’s family were in Dallas, and Brett’s in Georgia, they have always been able to share important life milestones with all. Brett graduated a year ahead of Lexi and landed a great job in Buckhead. After spending a year “commuting” to see each other, Lexi decided to take a job in Alpharetta, GA post college to be near Brett. Their love has grown stronger and never wavered. They have a relationship based on faith, trust, love and friendship and above all having fun.
While celebrating their 5th year of dating, Brett proposed to Lexi at the famous fountain in Forsyth Park in Savannah to complete a wonderful evening, celebrating their commitment to each other and desire to experience a life together and bond in love and marriage. “In all the World, there is no heart for me like yours, in all the World, there is no heart for you like mine. “ – Maya Angelou
