Take a Shelter Dog on a Field Trip

Visit the Kauai Humane Society to "check out" a shelter dog for the day. They want to get out and explore just as much a you do.

We recommend making a night of this. You can sign up for a free rum tasting before dinner at Kalua Rum, ride the train around the Kilohana sugar plantation, enjoy the amazing food at Gaylords, and watch the lu'au. There is also am tasty taffy shop tucked away behind the main plantation building.

Waimea Canyon State Park

There are a variety of hiking trails around Waimea Canyon, often called the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific". You can also drive up to several amazing view points and leave the hiking poles at home.

Beach Time

We all know the real reason you are flying all the way to Kauai. Here are some family friendly beaches for you to check out. Keep in mind during the winter the ocean can be very dangerous on the north shore so we will not be recommending any of those beaches for swimming. Poipu Beach Park- Great for families and snorkeling Lydgate Beach Park- Protected swimming area for children Sheraton Beach- Great beach for surf lessons Salt Pond Beach Park- Protected swimming areas for children Kalapaki bay- Very safe for swimming, paddle boarding, and beginner surfing
