Life has a funny way of placing people into your life at times that are least expected and sometimes even at what feels like the worst possible timing. Somehow, it works out and you end up exactly where you are meant to be. Casey's cousin, Rachel, was in town from Denver visiting for the Christmas holiday back in December 2019. Rachel and I had become friends through a mutual friend and had made plans to go out dancing at the country bar the night of December 28, 2019. Casey had been with Rachel prior to heading out and had heard about the night out and asked to tag along with Rachel, she couldn't say no! Casey arrived at Whiskey Roads in a classy button up shirt and blue jeans, he looked so very handsome. I was immediately intrigued to talk to him, something about the geeky glasses made me want to get to know him. We talked work and quickly realized that we worked in similar fields and we just had a lot in common. Come to find out, he pulled up in his sweet yellow school bus converted into an RV (when I say converted, it had a sink, a bed and an RV couch with a table, the bathroom it was missing as I did not find the orange home depot bucket with a toilet seat to be what I'd call a bathroom, but more on how we got to that later). We got to talking about hobbies; the hiking, camping, traveling and yes, we both had the wild dream to convert a school bus to an RV, a Skoolie, for the hippies out there that know the term. The night ended with a tour of the school bus and then I left to home to be with the kids. For weeks following, Casey had asked me to go hiking, to go to lunch and I wanted to, but nerves got the best of me. It was not long that COVID was running ramped and I finally took Casey up on the offer to meet up at a park with the kids. I got scared and I bailed on the meet up again, I still feel so guilty about not going. It didn't take long for me to reconsider and we finally did get together. It took no time at all for us to go camping, hiking and a trip to Sedona with the kids together. We got along so well and our list of common interests kept growing. It has been a blast everyday since. I kick myself in the butt daily for waiting so long to get started. Casey is truly everything I would hope for in my life partner and can only wish we had met so much sooner. My life and my kids lives are forever better with Casey and the girls in our lives and we cannot wait to start this next chapter in our storybook.
