2024 Best in the West Rib Cook Off
The Reno/Sparks area hosts the Rib Cook Off annually during Labor Day weekend! It starts Wednesday August 28 and ends Monday September 2 at the Nugget Casino. We recommend parking in the Victorian Galaxy Theater parking garage or in the street/residential areas near the Nugget Casino.
Lake Tahoe
It will be in the heat of summer during our wedding week so if you have the time for a lake day we definitely recommend going to any of the beaches in Tahoe, it is about an hour drive. The best times to go would be early in the morning, you’ll want to be near the parking area by 7am because parking does go quickly, or after 2-3pm when the crowds start to leave. Some of the beaches you can go to are Zephyr Cove, Nevada Beach, Jameson Beach in South Lake Tahoe and Sand Harbor and Kings Beach in North Lake Tahoe, but there are plenty more!
Donner Lake
Our family would go on annual picnics here every year and is about a 45 minute drive away. There may be a small parking fee, and will likely want to get here early or in the afternoon, as well. There is plenty to do with a tennis court, basketball court, beach volleyball court, playground, and of course picnic areas to use for the day.
