Our story started at an unexpected place—a gas station. Matt worked there, and it happened to be close to Maddy’s first apartment. Over time, friendly conversations turned into something more. Matt always remembered the small details, and Maddy always left smiling. After each visit, she’d call her mom to talk about “the cute guy at the gas station.” One day, we bumped into each other at the grocery store. We later admitted we both lingered in the aisles a little longer, hoping to cross paths again. Not long after, we matched on a dating app—Maddy sent the first message: “Are you the guy from the gas station?” Our first hangout turned into an all-night adventure, ending just hours before Maddy had to work. We’ve been inseparable ever since. In the years that followed, we’ve built a life filled with love, laughter, two dogs, a home, and countless memories. What began as a chance encounter has become our forever.

Maddy had always said Matt could never pull off a surprise—he’s not exactly known for keeping secrets. But this time, he was determined to prove her wrong. With the help of her closest friends, he carefully planned every detail of the perfect moment. The plan began with a friend inviting Maddy to meet at a park under the pretense of needing to talk. As they drove in slow circles around the park (raising more than a little suspicion), Matt was just out of sight, setting everything up and hoping it would all come together just right. When Maddy finally stepped out of the car, their song began to play. As the music drifted through the air, Matt appeared—completely catching her off guard. He read a handwritten letter, filled with love and intention, and then got down on one knee to ask her the most important question of their lives. Of course, she said yes. And moments later—through happy tears and laughter—she asked the most important follow-up question: “Is it pretty? I’m crying and I can’t see anything!” And just like that, a new chapter began.
