This night, I deemed going to church as a perfect opportunity for me to release to my Pastor & First Lady about things that have been troubling me. Before I could even release, in walked Pastor’s brother Tyrell, with a few Guitar Center bags. He’d recently started coming frequently to help enhance the music department. Would I be vein to say he probably was coming for me? Yeah? Okay! Never mind me, back to the story! Once Tyrell arrived, it turned from me about to unpack, to us all having an open fellowship. We spoke and made jokes for few hours until I noticed the time and hastened to leave. First Lady made a gesture for Tyrell to drive me home, but internally I said “Aht, Aht, Aht” and nicely insisted on requesting my Uber. Losing track of time, we continued to fellowship for yet another hour. When I noticed, I made another attempt to leave. First Lady tried to convince Tyrell and I shot it down again. You won’t believe yet another hour passed, now it’s midnight and I said to Tyrell, “So you’re taking me home?” With him being such a gentleman he didn’t mind, even after I refused the gesture a couple of times. Shoot, I would’ve said “Oh!? The Uber app stopped working?” Or something slick but he had such a meek nature. Tyrell opened the car door for me and I rolled my eyes saying to myself “Oh he think he’s smooth.” He asked if I was hungry and I inquired what he’s thinking to grab. The man said ‘Fisherman Cove’, I leaned back clutching my pearls in disbelief that Tyrell knew about the spot that be hooking me up with extra gravy on my oxtail (if you know, you know!) We quickly discovered they were closed due to the time, so Tyrell then inquired if I wanted Foot prints. I leaned to the side, grasping for air, in disbelief that the man knew these spots.
Can you believe that food brought down barriers? On the ride to footprints, we bonded. We had a chemistry that I personally never experienced before which amazed me because I judged him. We came from totally different worlds but both were intrigued to know more about each other. After picking up our food, Tyrell drove me home, we both shared our good byes and as I began to walk away — Tyrell took advantage of this window of opportunity. He said “Would you mind if I take your number? As brother and sister in Christ?” And I thought to myself, “Girl! Go ahead, give him your number.. it won’t get any further.” Chile, you won’t believe we spoke E V E R Y D A Y since then! A week later, he told me, he’s feeling the kid. A month later, he asked me to be his girlfriend. 2 years later, he asked me to marry him. 3 years later, we got married virtually. 4 years later, I’m preparing to walk down the aisle to re-marry the ‘best thing I never knew I needed’ … Tyrell Jarkim Glover!
