Maid of Honor
Laura is Leslie’s twin sister, and has known Leslie for as long as she can remember. Laura works with women-owned businesses, paints murals, and like Leslie, lives in the Twin Cities (twins on twins on twins!) Laura can read her sister quite well, and knew that Lucas was Leslie's perfect match after the couple wrote their own Midwestern version of Game of Thrones (set in Mid-Westeros). It is a joy to welcome Lucas to the family!! Let the pies, puns and parties commence!
Bridesmaid
Carrie Johnson is Leslie’s eldest sister. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband Christopher, who’s also in the wedding party. Carrie works in the telecom industry and is passionate about broadband access in rural and tribal communities. Carrie greatly admires Leslie’s wanderlust spirit. Some of Carrie’s fondest memories are visiting Leslie studying and working abroad, including Germany, Korea, Japan, Portugal and Spain. Inspired by Leslie and her jet-setting twin Laura, Carrie set aside several months for travel in 2015, visiting Southeast Asia and volunteering for a marine conservation organization. Carrie is thrilled Leslie found such a wonderful partner in Lucas. He will be an amazing travel companion in their journey through life.

Amy Johnson is Leslie’s little (but tallest) sister. After living in California for several years, Amy moved back to the Midwest to attend the University of South Dakota’s Physician Assistant program. She is not only excited for Leslie and Lucas’ wedding in July 2020, but also her graduation! While in school, she has loved her weekend getaways to Minneapolis to stay with the couple and visit family. Between study breaks, she has enjoyed getting to know Lucas better, asking him for study tips and practicing her pun skills – which are pretty weak compared to Leslie and Lucas’ wittiness. Upon meeting Lucas for the first time, Amy knew that there was nobody more perfect for her sister, Leslie. She is excited to celebrate the beginning of Leslie and Lucas’ happy, pun-filled marriage!
Bridesmaid
A native of the Twin Cities, Maxine is Leslie’s first cousin & often appears in photographs – as the one brunette – amongst the four blonde Johnson sisters. She is proud to be thought of as Leslie’s sister-cousin, & is thrilled to be celebrating Leslie & Lucas as they start the next chapter of their lives together. Maxine, her husband Jon, & their two young children Lila & Ellis enjoy making their home next to a park in the south metro. Maxine is passionate about integrative health & works as an Occupational Therapist & clinical leader in a holistic health program at Park Nicollet. Maxine & her family love exploring the woods behind their home, traveling off the beaten path (including braving international travel with little ones!), appreciating music, art, & books, & having dance parties.

As Lucas's sister, I couldn't be more excited about this wedding! My daughter, Layla, and I live in Woodbury. I work for Washington County and I love spending my time away from work traveling, attempting DIY projects around the house, and being outside on bike rides, hikes, or on the water. We are looking forward to making more memories with Luke and Leslie (and hopefully getting to be an aunt/ cousin someday)! Leslie's graceful charm perfectly complements Luke's witty spunk and it is so much fun to see how happy they make each other. I can't wait to see what God has in store for this wonderful couple, and I am thrilled to welcome Leslie into the family as my new sister. Congratulations Luke and Leslie! I love you!

Growing up, summer trips to South Dakota were especially fun when they involved reuniting with the Johnson cousins, so I was delighted when both Leslie and I found ourselves moving to Minneapolis within months of each other many years later. When a fortuitous Minnesota visit from a friend of Leslie's brought Lucas into her life, it was the beginning of the most punderful relationship in all of Midwesteros. John and I are so excited to have many years of Renaissance festivals, State Fair runs, concerts, exploring, TV series viewing, dinners, and general time together with such an exceptional couple. It is a wonderful thing when your cousins are also dear friends, and I am so happy to welcome Lucas to the family!
Best Man
Brian is the first brother born to the groom, Lucas (not to be confused with Zachary or Femi, who kindly serves as my replacement brother when I am away in Florida). Growing up with Luke as my brother came with many benefits including free math tutoring, quite frequent “wisdom guidance” and endless jokes (& attempts). Luke was always the joyful child who seemingly was always happy. After meeting Leslie, it was immediately clear this day of matrimony would soon derive as she has redefined what happiness looks like on Luke. The best part is, after all this time, Luke has finally admitted that I AM THE BEST MAN!
Best Man
Zach is Luke's youngest brother (26). He studied Actuarial Science at the University of St. Thomas and is now living in Uptown, Minneapolis working as an Actuarial Consultant for Deloitte Consulting. He enjoys staying active with bike rides and runs around the lakes, jamming out to music, and laughing at his own jokes. Zach also loves to travel. He went on a 70-day hike through California with his brother Brian and just got back from a short trip to Iceland.
Groomsman
Blake met the Duke of Lukes during medical school, when he and Lucas lived in the same medical fraternity. The two spent their glory days night biking the streets of the Twin Cities, throwing down many a slice of Mesa pizza, and playing just one more game of Smash Brothers (just the sticks n’ dice). Blake may have been present when Lucas first laid eyes on Leslie and can attest to the miracle of love at first sight. Blake is incredibly honored to join in celebrating the wedding of two amazing friends - may South Dakota and Minnesota forever be united.

Femi is awesome. He's really cool, really funny, and a very nice guy (this was not written by Femi). The two met in medical school spending 19 weeks dissecting a human cadaver. Sometimes when Lucas would get woozy at the sight of human intestines Femi would take him out in the hallway, sit him down and help him gather himself. It was no different when Femi first heard about this "new amazing lady" Luke had just met. Soon, Femi diagnosed Luke with a case of the Love Bugs and offered him the only logical prescription there was to be given: hold on to this one. It's a good thing that Luke followed the advice of his friend Femi because now they're getting married. Femi is in his final year of medical school at the University of Minnesota and hopes to go into the field of Family Medicine.
Groomsman
Christopher Vondracek, husband to Leslie’s oldest sister, Carrie, is a Washington D.C. journalist and grew up in the southern Minnesota (Wells, Kiester). His band—The Golden Bubbles (named for a cornfield ballroom)—will serenade the night’s dance. Ever since he hugged Leslie (inadvertently thinking Leslie to be Laura, whom he’d already met), Christopher’s been a big fan of Leslie’s wit, grace, and patience to withstand with a knowing grin the world’s surrealism. Ever since Christopher watched Lucas aide Dr. Milroy’s table-top surgery on Dr. Johnson’s after Dan had slipped, cutting his hand on zebra mussels while boating in Yankton’s Lewis & Clark Lake, Christopher has known Lucas will attach nicely (as if by seams sewn by a deft surgeon) to the widening Johnson-Milroy tapestry.

Lee Haggenjos works alongside Lucas in their family medicine residency. They first met on the interview trail with their shared interests in underserved medicine and Spanish speaking patients. He is thrilled to be a part of the celebration of his marriage to Leslie, as he has seen their shared happiness and friendship first hand. He looks forward to continuing to work and pun together a la Statler and Waldorf now and in the future.
