Dear friends and family, The past year has included many unimaginable challenges, and during these difficult times, we want to thank all of you for your continued support of our love. Unlike the large gathering we had originally planned (but still unforgettably wonderfully) we were married during a small family ceremony on July 11th, 2020. To begin our married life together, we both decided to take the new last name Boyle-Milroy! Now that more of our guests are able to receive the vaccine and we are moving closer to herd immunity, we would like to invite you to a wedding celebration on Sunday, August 8th, 2021. We wish to be as safe and responsible as possible. Our event will be at Hope Glen Farms, where we can have most of the celebration and reception on their outdoor grounds. We hope to have plenty of photo opportunities with you all in our formal wear before changing into casual attire for yard games, a meal, and music. We would also like to use this opportunity to celebrate the 40th wedding anniversaries of Leslie's parents, Dan Johnson and Mary Milroy, married 5/15/81, and her uncle and aunt, Jim Milroy and Cheryl Simon Milroy, married on 8/8/81. Please visit the website to RSVP (https://www.zola.com/wedding/leslielukesforlove/rsvp) by 6/15/21 to let us know you can make it. This year has taught us that things can change beyond our control. If for any reason immunity backslides or the event increases the risk of harm to our guests, we promise to cancel and inform you all as soon as possible. The night before the celebration, we will have a casual outdoor gathering on the evening of Saturday, August 7th at Minnehaha Falls Picnic Area. Visit our website page for more information. It will be wonderful to get to thank you in person for all the support and love you give us. Stay safe! Lots of love, Lucas and Leslie
Taking a chance, Leslie and Lucas took a leap toward adventure. It was a warm July evening and Lucas's friend from medical school, Blake, invited him out to the microbrewery, Modist Brewing, as his fiancee (Hannah) and her cousin (Meredith) were in town. Lucas was studying for his psychiatry rotation, but decided he could use the fresh air. Leslie was invited out by her friend from the University of Oregon (Meredith), who was traveling back from the Peace Corps and swinging through Minneapolis for a visit. Although tired after a day of manual labor at her misguided summer internship, Leslie decided to rally and jumped at the opportunity for adventure to hang out with Meredith, her cousin, her cousin's fiancee and her cousin's fiancee's friend, Lucas. They hit it off over drinks, and the group meandered through the North Loop, stopping for cheese curds at the Red Cow and rhubarb pie at Blake and Hannah's place. Lucas and Leslie shared pet stories, kooky puns and many laughs. Both suspected that their story together would not end there... As the months went by, Leslie started a busy last year of her Landscape Architecture Masters Program. Lucas was drawn into applying for residencies and traveled to the West Coast applying to programs. Luckily, having thought (more than a time or two) of that fine gentleman she'd met over the summer, Leslie decided to reach out on the last day Lucas was in Portland. As he continued his residencies-tour on to Milwaukee, they sent many messages and quickly rekindled over their shared love of storytelling. Introductory texts soon morphed into a written and eventually podcast alternative to Game of Thrones, aptly set in Midwesteros & centering around the Mitchell Corn Palace, and they learned that theirs was a unique frequency of puns & goofy stories they alone would explore. Their first date took place on the winter solstice at the Como Conservatory, where it became apparent that this was the beginning of an endless epic adventure!
