We first met in high school (2013) through sports. We were friends, but there was always a playful competition (mostly because one of us was faster 🏃🏻‍♂️, and the other just couldn’t accept it). Nothing romantic happened, and eventually we went our separate ways. We lost touch… until years later, when a single Instagram DM changed everything. That summer, we reconnected without overthinking it. There were long drives to help with moves, easy conversations, and a spontaneous invitation to Lake Tahoe that ended up being a turning point. We rented a kayak and headed out onto the lake. One of us warned not to jump because the water was freezing… the other jumped anyway, just for the fun of it. Spoiler: someone was definitely not happy. Later, we went for ice cream and accidentally ended up in another couple’s engagement photos. Between laughing and joking, one of us got down on one knee “as a joke”… and then asked if we wanted to be official. We said yes, and from that moment on, everything started to make sense. (2018) Since then, our story has been full of short and long trips, endless laughter, and choosing each other - again and again.

Nos conocimos en la preparatoria (2013) gracias al deporte. Éramos amigos, pero siempre había una competencia divertida (especialmente porque uno era más rápido 🏃🏻‍♂️ y el otro nunca lo aceptó). Nunca pasó nada romántico y, con el tiempo, cada quien siguió su camino. Perdimos contacto… hasta que años después, un solo mensaje por Instagram lo cambió todo. Ese verano volvimos a conectar sin pensarlo demasiado. Hubo viajes largos para ayudar con mudanzas, pláticas que se sentían fáciles y una invitación espontánea a Lake Tahoe que terminó siendo clave. Rentamos un kayak y nos adentramos en el lago. Uno dijo que no saltáramos porque el agua estaba helada… el otro (Leslie) saltó de todos modos, solo por diversión. Spoiler: alguien se enojó. Después fuimos por helado y, sin querer, aparecimos en las fotos de compromiso de otra pareja. Entre risas y burlas, uno se arrodilló “en broma”… y ahí mismo preguntó si queríamos ser novios. Dijimos que sí, y desde entonces todo empezó a tener sentido. (2018) Desde ese momento, nuestra historia ha sido de viajes largos y cortos, muchas risas y elegirnos una y otra vez.
