Courtney and Matt met at Matt's 24th birthday party. Courtney was tagging along with some of the couples' mutual friends. Little did they know, they had met their soulmate. Following that night, Courtney reached out to Matt asking for advice and their friendship grew from there. The two would spend hours on the phone each day talking and getting to know each other. For Courtney, Matt was just a really good friend, but you could say that that was the opposite for Matt. Matt knew that Courtney was the best thing to ever come into his life and he knew he didn't want to let her go. Eventually, Courtney came to see that she didn't want to lose Matt and her feelings grew from there. On November 19, 2016 Matt asked Courtney to be his girlfriend and she said yes.
The engagement took place on the couple's 4 year anniversary. With the help of the couples' friends; Asha & Faith, they were able to pull off a successful proposal. The day began with Courtney thinking that there was a photo shoot on behalf of a boutique in Sioux Falls that she was invited to, so she made her way up to Sioux Falls to enjoy the day. Meanwhile, Matt, Asha, & Faith (the photographer) were at Palisades State Park in Garretson, SD scouting the perfect location to pop the question. At around 4 o'clock in the afternoon Courtney showed up to the Palisades ready to shoot sunset pictures. Faith brought the her around to various locations and snapped her picture, eventually bringing her to a large rock, (as seen in the pictures here) where Matt was hiding behind. Asha was at the top of the rock's surface giving him a play-by-play, making sure she didn't accidently go past the rock. Faith had Courtney pose in front of the rock and then told her to turn around, there was Matt, down on one knee and asking Courtney to be his wife.
