Travel Note
Keep an eye out for more details on the website and any updates on the itinerary on the Google Sheet. We are updating the Google Maps with notes, as well. We udnerstand everyone has their own itinerary, but please feel free to join in on anything we are doing and anywhere we are going! On 12/16, we are taking photos at Ruins of La Recoleccion at 8:30AM. If you want to join in on the photos, come around 9:15AM, it's our favorite ruin in Antigua. We will be going to the Artisan Market on 12/15 to pick up local clothes for the photo shoot around 2PM as well!
Flight
We opted to take a disgusting redeye flight out to maximize our time out in Guatemala with whoever is going to be there. Alaska Airlines Flight from Los Angeles to Guatemala City – AS 1353
Travel Note
One way flights from LAX to GUA (Guatemala City) December 11 - 14 on Avianca (we've flown this airline a bunch and it's solid) are around $450 Per Passenger if you add a big carry-on with one personal item included. Round trip from LAX if you return on the December 18-20 is only another $150 more that will land you at $600. We will be updating this with our post wedding travel plans for the adventurous ones!
Travel Note
Once you arrive in Guatemala City you will have a few options: 1. Book a hotel with a shuttle or have your hotel book you a shuttle. 2. Uber - 'nuff said. 3. Rent a Car - This really isn't necessary and some of the roads were...challenging, but it will be super useful if you plan on exploring and doing some of the fun activites that are not in just Guatemala City and Antigua. 4. Book a private shuttle in advance, there are other sites, but we've used Viator before : https://www.viator.com/Guatemala-City-tours/Airport-and-Ground-Transfers/d4595-g15-c52 5. Taxi - I would definitely opt for an Uber. You're tracked and insured. Like seriously. 6. Public bus system - Ehhhh, I think we're a little too old for this. The same goes for getting to Antigua. Once you are in Antigua, the city is so tiny that you won't need a car. Most hotels will have parking areas and their are plenty of public pay to park secured areas, as well. If you need help, please don't hesitate to ask us!
Travel Note
We plan on living the metropolitan life in the country's capitol of Guatemala City. We will be staying at the Hyatt Centric Guatemala City for these nights. There isn't too much to do in the city except good eats and some really great bars, but we wanted to give Danielle's parents a little time to adjust and enjoy some more modern luxuries, then stopping at this rad Lord of the Rings Eco-Resort - Hobbitenango - before heading to *BEAUTIFUL ANTIGUA* on the morning of the 14th! With that being said, there are a bunch of great restaurants, bars, and nightlife, so if you decide on coming early, let's gooooooo!!!
Travel Note
We are headed in to the city a little earlier to meet with our vendors, friends in the bar industry, and spend a little time getting settled in to prepare for the festivities! We will be stopping in at Hobbitenango on the way in to Antigua for a day trip to show Danielle's parents around, it's an amazing Lord of the Rings Eco Resort, please check out more details in the Things to Do section of the site. We are staying at the El Carmen Hotel the first two nights, then on the wedding site the next two nights, and back to the El Carmen the last night before heading off to El Salvador.
Travel Note
We are heading to El Salvador! Our good friend, Daniel, who is El Salvadorian will be joining - huge bonus. Please hit me up if you are interested so we don't inundate everyone on this site with information they don't need. Let's keep the party going with us afterwards, I have faith in you! 12/19 1:59PM Volaris Flight 4317 GUA to SAL 12/24 3:00AM United Flight UA1670 SAL to LAX
