If you love hiking, Sharp Top Mountain is a great 2.6 mile hike with beautiful views at the top. This hike may be challenging for some as it has lots of steps at the very end. If you are looking for an easier hike refer to Cole Mountain! Fun fact: our ceremony location at our venue (weather permitting) overlooks the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains including Sharp Top! As pictured above, Andrew and I along with some of our college friends decided it would be a great idea to hike Sharp Top in the middle of January on a somewhat temperate day. This picture doesn't do the views justice so you will have to go to see for yourselves!!
If I had to pick my favorite hike in all of LYH, Cole Mountain would be it. It's more like a walk in the woods than a true hike making it great for people of all athletic abilities! If you go try to time it for sunset and feel free to bring a little picnic as there is a great clearing with plenty of space! The sunsets up there are something straight from heaven! This is a must when you visit Lynchburg! It's a little bit of a drive and a little hard to reach but so so worth it!
If you have a sweet tooth and are looking for a place to grab dessert, look no further!! Rookie's is hands down the best cookie/ ice cream place in all of Lynchburg! It holds a super special place in Andrew's heart as he works here during the school year. It has the cutest outdoor seating and of course amazing cookies and ice cream (they also have gluten free options available!).
Looking for a place to grab a quick breakfast? Blue Ridge Bagels is the cutest mom and pop bagel place that not only has great bagels but also amazing iced coffee (they use coffee ice cubes so your coffee never gets too watered down). They are not open on Sundays (I know very sad) and are only open until 2 pm.
If you are looking for a great burger place in the area, I would highly recommend Brauburger! This is one of Andrew's personal favorites in LYH. Our personal favorite item on the menu is the Southwest burger but everything we have tried there so far has been good!
