Yes, Sayulita is a safe place to travel but property crime does occur, generally when guests leave unlocked valuables in their vacation rentals in remote vacation homes in the hills above Sayulita. Always best to use your room safe to store wallets, jewelry and passports, and to lock your room when leaving. For more info on safety in Sayulita: https://www.sayulitalife.com/safety-in-sayulita
If your stomach isn't used to Mexican water it's best to not drink the tap water. Rental properties, hotels and restaurants all provide bottled water for your use. Restaurants follow high food quality standards in Sayulita, but to guard against south of the border fun hitting your belly the wrong way you could take a couple chewable Pepto Bismol tablets twice a day to be on the safe side. Avoiding raw oysters served by vendors on the beach is wise if you have a sensitive stomach.
Not at all! Sayulita is bustling with Canadian & American visitors in the winter; restaurant, bar, hotel, gallery/boutique/grocery staff speak English. And are happy to help you practice your Spanish!
