How We Met

1.28.17

After we connected through the dating app named Coffee Meets Bagel, Nikki suggested we meet up for brunch. She had a good feeling about this "bagel". His profile told her he was a foodie, loved craft beer and that he had traveled to India. She was intrigued by his profession and it didn't hurt that his profile pic had him looking like a BOSS in an Under Armour shirt! She picked out the restaurant and asked Jason to come to her side of Baltimore's Harbor. Jason rode over on the water taxi and was waiting inside the restaurant with his back turned when Nikki walked in. She knew it had to be him, she didn't know how she knew but she did. She tapped him on the shoulder and there began their first date. After ordering the same dish on the menu (carrot cake oatmeal) and chatting for about 3 hours, they began their walk back to the water taxi stop where they said their good-byes. Later that evening she texted him thanking him for brunch. He responded promptly and waited a few days before asking her if she was free the following weekend! Fast Forward 13 months later during which time trips to Cuba and Germany took place, a countless amount of meals were prepared, photographed and shared, holidays were celebrated and family members were introduced, bringing us to...

The Proposal

2.25.18

They arrived at their Airbnb camper outside Joshua Tree National Park, CA in the early evening. They unpacked and had dinner. As they were cleaning up, Jason asked Nikki to stay in the camper for a couple minutes because he had a surprise. As the sun set on the horizon of the desert, Jason told Nikki it was safe to come outside. He had placed votive candles all around the camper, and setup up a projector, where he played a home movie he created recounting the time they had spent together. Then, choked up, he read a short speech he had written–with the crescendo asking the question "Will you marry me?!" as he pulled out the ring that had been hiding in his backpack all weekend. She said yes, and by the time the event unfolded, the desert sky around them had grown dark and full of stars. We're so excited to be celebrating this next chapter in our lives with you! See you in September!
