How We Met... in a nutshell

2.24.16

Sam and a group of friends were roaming the Mouton halls during Freshman Orientation Weekend (creepy right?), and when Caitlyn walked past a friend's room she noticed a bunch of strangers. Being the discreet person she is, not, Caitlyn entered the room unsuspectingly to protect her friend from the weirdos. The group began to socialize, Caitlyn finally let her guard down, and everyone in the room exchanged information to keep in touch. As the semester went on, the group continued to hang out and go to events together. Not long after, Caitlyn and Sam formed secret crushes for each other, but both of them could never speak their mind. They even met each other's parents before they started dating. The two became closer by going to the gym together, eating pancakes, and taking nature walks. Myles, Sam's roommate at the time, noticed the love in the air and could not take it any longer. Not to mention, he was the sole confidant of both parties. He decided to spill the beans in a dramatic fashion, but Caitlyn and Sam STILL didn't budge. After a couple months of awkward interaction, Sam gained the confidence to finally ask Caitlyn to be his girlfriend. The two have been inseparable since.

The Proposal

10.13.19

As you have read from the previous story, the couple is far from discreet. Well, as the saying goes "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" we have concluded it doesn't. Sam had been planning this day in his head for months, but it's quite hard keeping anything secret around Caitlyn. Sam spoke to friends and family members to make sure this day was as perfect as the girl he wanted to marry. He decided on a photoshoot because Caitlyn had been asking to do one for years. He arranged for them and the photographer to meet at Caitlyn's favorite spot in Forest Park. With Caitlyn becoming suspicious of the photoshoot, Sam's parents (Chris and Tom) attempted to skew her thoughts by texting her about their "trip". While Tom was spotting elk in Wyoming, Chris was basking in the mountains in Colorado. WRONG! They were in St. Louis the whole time, but we'll continue with the story... Sam became increasingly sweaty knowing the cat was out of the bag, but the show must go on. When arriving to what should be known as the busiest park in St. Louis, the couple noticed their photo-op was consumed by onlookers and photo-bombers. They then moved to the Jewel Box where they had a little more privacy. During the shoot, the two realized modeling is not in their near future as they laughed and talked through the whole session. In the middle of their conversing, Sam asked, "Do you remember our first date here?" to which Caitlyn replied, "No". They rebutted and bantered until Sam cried out, "Just let me finish this thing!". Caitlyn took the hint and let Sam finish his speech, which of course contained *NSYNC lyrics (per request by Caitlyn). At the end of his speech he pulled out the ring and asked Caitlyn to marry him, and Caitlyn said, "Oh my gosh, it's so shiny!". After repeated prodding and refocusing, she finally said yes. The couple then met up with family and friends at the Moonrise Hotel for the only surprise of the day, an engagement party organized by Sam.
