While watching the Winter 2018 Olympics, Gloria got a message on Coffee Meets Bagel from this cute PE teacher. He was at a PE conference, also watching the Olympics. Intrigued, because they had about ten mutual friends and "PE teacher" was her number one match from those high school job quizzes, Gloria opened the message. The two had an instant connection and decided to meet the next week in Stockton. Their first date lasted ten hours, consisting of broomball and art museum adventures, to strolling around University of the Pacific with boba, to dinner and dancing. Afterwards, they both knew they had found their forever adventure buddy!
James' story: One weekend in beautiful Ventura California, Gloria and I were staying at my parents’ house so we were able to watch her brother perform in a dance show and then we could watch my dad play with his band. Saturday morning, I woke up at 6am. I’m actually a morning person so that’s less impressive than it sounds. But I set out with a mission. Armed with textbooks for the two classes I was taking at the time to make it look like I was going to Starbucks to get some homework done, I tossed them in the trunk and set out with a completely separate agenda. I spent the better part of two hours, driving around Ventura leaving clues for a treasure hunt. That afternoon after my dad’s concert, I had two things with me, the first clue, and one very expensive piece of carbon. While we walked downtown I had no idea how I was going to give Gloria the first clue. Luckily, right as I was realizing I had thought everything through, except how to give her the first clue, I looked back and saw it on the ground. It had fallen out of my pocket and the words “Clue #1” were facing us. Well, after going around Ventura finding clues in books at Barnes and Nobles and digging up buried treasure at the beach, we ended up the Ventura Pier. And you guessed it, I got down on one knee and, mildly terrified not that she wouldn’t say yes but that I would drop the ring into the Pacific Ocean, asked her to marry me.
