We get this question all the time! Getting married on leap day means that we will technically only have our anniversary once every four years. Shortly after choosing the date, Christopher joked that this meant he would only need to remember it every four years -- SaraJean did not find this amusing. So naturally, we will need to celebrate it every year, but on what day: February 28 or March 1? Christopher's brother and best man, T.J., has his birthday on the 28th of February, so to avoid familial confusion, we've decided on March 1. Oh, by the way, remember to wish T.J. a happy birthday when you see him at the family rehearsal dinner!
The most convenient option for flying into the area is the Daytona Beach Airport (DAB). American and Delta airlines fly into this airport. The convenience, however, typically means prices for tickets are slightly higher than other locations. Orlando international airport (MCO) is the main airport for Central Florida and is served by nearly every major airline, domestic and international. Certain carriers provide well priced airfares to fly to MCO since it is a large tourist destination. As air travel has become less expensive and more popular MCO has grown and become quite crowded. For those flying in and out here you will need to plan some extra time for everything from rental car return, to baggage check and security. It is also the furthest airport from our location and takes about 60 - 75 minutes to get to by car. The last airport is Sanford (SFB), a focus location for Allegiant, a discount carrier. At only 30 minutes away, it is a very convenient option to fly into.
Although New Smyrna Beach is the location of our wedding, we are not having a beach wedding. The Delamater House is a rustic barn location that is friendly to all shoe types.
We love your children--we really do, but we want our wedding to be your night off! Only those children who are participating in the wedding will be allowed at the ceremony and reception. If you plan on having your children with you for the trip, and require babysitting for the ceremony, please let us know.
We share a wedding email for all things wedding related. Feel free to contact both of us there: christopherandsarajean@gmail.com If you would like to call for a more immediate answer, (but not the day of the wedding) text or call SaraJean at 951-756-4490 or Christopher at 518-225-7043.
We kindly ask you to refrain from taking photos or videos during the ceremony. Our wedding photographer has a cloud-based system where all the photos from the wedding will be uploaded. After the wedding, we will provide a code that will allow you to see our wonderful photos, as well as the ability to download them for your own personal use. We also request that no one take photos or videos during specific photo shoots with the photographer, as this can cause distraction and increase the time it takes to get the best shots. If you do this, our photographer will nicely ask you to put your phone away, but don't cross her, because she will take your phone. Seriously. During the reception, we encourage you to take photos! We hope that you can remember our marriage later with some pictures you took yourself. There will also be a photo booth set up at our event that we encourage you to have fun with! You can see more about it here: https://misshazelphotobooth.com
The reception will follow immediately after the ceremony at the same location as the ceremony, the Delamater House.
In addition to Uber and Lyft, we are examining the possibility of establishing a transport service depending on how many people end up staying at the same hotel. Check back on this website later to see what routes and times the service will run. There is ample parking at the venue, so driving yourself is also an option.
Yes! If you received an invitation, we planned our wedding to accommodate not just you, but a guest/significant other. For those we haven't met yet, we look forward to getting to know you and are excited to share our special day with you!
Volusia county (the host county of the venue) has strict limits on times allowed for special use permits, to include our venue, the Delamater House. Music must stop playing by 10 PM, and everyone will leave the property by 11 PM.
