How They Met

Aug 2012

Leanne and Sam met during their first day at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Sam was the first person Leanne met at Babson while waiting to take their freshmen class picture in front of Knight Auditorium. After chatting for a while (and debating whether Cape Cod or Cape Elizabeth owned "the Cape" title), they sat down next to each other to take their class picture - this picture capturing how they met can be found in the Dean's Office at Babson today!

First Date

Aug 2012

Sam asked Leanne to be his date to the first Babson orientation social called "Knight Party", which was held in the same building they met by. As has come to be customary, Leanne and Sam coordinated bright colored outfits and danced the night away to tropical house music.

Proposal

May 2022

Sam popped the question in their favorite place in Boston, the Seaport waterfront next to their home. Leanne's Maids of Honor, Coryn and Yana, helped Sam plan the ultimate surprise (as evidenced by the glowsticks in Leanne's hand for the concert later that evening) and made sure the couple coordinated their bright colored outfits. Coryn hid in the bushes nearby to capture a video of the proposal, and Yana organized an intimate celebration nearby afterwards. They then joined their friends on a boat cruise concert to celebrate and dance the night away to tropical house music.

House Island History

House Island is a special place for many reasons. Sam's parents celebrated their wedding shower on the island 35 years ago. House Island is also an important historical landmark, known as "the Ellis Island of the North" for it's role as an immigration center in the early 1900s, and Fort Scammell on the south side of the island protected Portland Harbor from the War of 1812 through the Civil War. House Island is said to get its name from English explorer Captain Christopher Levett who discovered and built the first house on the island in 1621.
