How We Met

We found love in a hospital 😊

Nick and I met while working night shift on the same hospital unit in Winter of 2014. Nick was a heart monitor tech and I was a pool nurse working a contract there. I was infamous for asking Nick all sorts of questions, to page doctors, or help lift patients 😂. We started out as friends and hung out in groups a few times. Flash forward 3 years to 2017 - Funnily enough, I actually had a dream about Nick and hanging out with him, his brother Michael and sister-in-law Shelby, and Shelby’s brother, Adam (and I had never hung out with them before). I thought that was a major sign! So I reached out to Nick via Snapchat one day after work and we started talking regularily. At first Nick thought I was joking around when I said I was interested in hanging out sometime... but I was serious! We really hit it off, and now the rest is history! We are so thankful to have found love in a hospital.🥰

The Proposal

09/21/19

One night, Nick brought up to me he wanted to visit my home state of Minnesota, see my hometown of Duluth, and spend some time with my family. We planned a trip in the fall of 2019 so we could see the leaves changing, and to avoid snow for Nick’s first experience in MN. About a week prior to arriving in Minnesota, Nick called my dad, Mark, and asked permission to marry me. Fittingly enough, my dad said, “Well let me check with Carol first...” He paused, but was totally joking, so they laughed and my dad said “Of course!” While in Duluth my family and Nick and I went around doing various touristy things. Of course we needed to show Nick Park Point Beach (Duluth’s version of a beach that is much different than the beaches of Florida Nick is used to) and beautiful Lake Superior. We stopped at one of the smaller beach areas on Park Point and Nick and I skipped rocks and observed some dogs playing in the water. Then it started raining, so we walked away from the water to the deck area, and my mom brought us out an umbrella from the car. I was getting impatient as I was cold and wet from the rain and said “lets just go back to the car or something.” Nick replied with, “Okay, but can you hold the umbrella for a second?” I said, “Yeah,” and took the umbrella completely aloof. Then Nick started getting down on one knee, he was bright red and could barely get any words out, but managed to say “Will you marry me?” I said “Oh my God, oh my God” many times, and then said, “YES!” Turns out the whole time we had been in Duluth my family had been trying to bring Nick to a location in the area that would be perfect for him to propose! Thankfully, everything fell into place and he got his chance and did wonderfully- and we couldn’t be more excited to be engaged and getting married!
