Question

What accomodation do you recommend while staying in Bogota?

Answer

We recommend staying in the popular northern neighborhoods of Bogotá, such as Zona Rosa, Usaquén, or Chapinero, which offer great hotels, restaurants, and easy access to key areas. Airbnb options are also widely available and a good choice for a more local experience. While staying in the city center is possible, keep in mind it can take significantly longer to reach the wedding venue from there due to traffic. Choosing accommodations in the north will make your travel more comfortable and convenient during your stay.

Question

I dont want to bring my suit/dress with me for the whole trip, what can I do?

Answer

You can rent dresses or suits in Bogota for a reasonable price. If you want to use this option, we have some recommendations that we share with you. Dont hesitate to write us!

Question

Can I bring a physical gift?

Answer

Thank you so much for your kind thought! We kindly ask guests to please not bring physical gifts. Instead, if you’d like to celebrate with us, we would truly appreciate a contribution through the gift section of this website to help make our honeymoon unforgettable. Your support means the world to us!

Question

Do I need a visa to enter Colombia?

Answer

No, Swiss citizens do not need a visa to enter Colombia for stays of up to 90 days. They can enter as tourists or for other short-term purposes without needing a visa. However, if the intended stay exceeds 90 days, a visa will be required. Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay. Purpose of Visit: The visa-free entry is for tourism or other short-term non-working purposes. Proof of Onward Travel: You may be asked to show proof of onward or return travel when entering Colombia. Visa Extension: If you wish to stay longer than 90 days, you'll need to apply for a visa. Colombian immigration authorities recommend applying for an extension before your initial 90-day period expires. Applying for a Visa: If you need a visa, you can apply online or through a Colombian embassy or consulate

Question

Is it safe to use taxis?

Answer

In Colombia, using registered taxi services or ride-hailing apps like Uber, DiDi, or Beat is generally safe and convenient, especially in major cities like Bogotá, Medellín, and Cartagena. We recommend always booking taxis through official apps or your hotel to ensure your safety. Avoid hailing taxis directly off the street, particularly at night.

Question

What is the weather usually like in January in Bogota?

Answer

January in Bogotá is part of the dry season, so you can expect mild and pleasant weather with plenty of sunshine. Daytime temperatures usually range between 14°C and 20°C, but evenings can be cooler, so we recommend bringing a light jacket or sweater. It’s a great time to enjoy the city and the wedding celebrations comfortably!

Question

Are there any direct flights from Switzerland?

Answer

Yes! Edelweiss Air operates non-stop flights from Zurich (ZRH) to Bogotá (BOG) twice a week, using Airbus A340‑300 aircraft with a flight time of around 11 hours and 50 minutes. These typically depart on Wednesdays and Sundays, though exact departure times can vary throughout the season (e.g. early‑morning or midday flights) . As for Cartagena (CTG), Edelweiss includes it on some Zurich–Bogotá flights as a connecting stop, but there are no direct (non-stop) flights from Switzerland to Cartagena—only codeshare or continuing sectors via Bogotá .
