Leandrea is my younger sister, as if that wasn’t a special enough role to hold, she has been my best friend as well. She is my confidant, my advocate, and at times a motivator. Growing up with her and sharing a space only we two can understand, is healing and beautiful. She would say I’m a good big sister but in so many ways, she doesn’t know, she’s my little big sister. She’s taught me to take up space and live life unapologetically. She’s been my biggest cheerleader and my mirror when I can’t see myself. She’s holds a special place in my heart and life. I am glad to serve her in her wedding party and I am proud to be her matron of honor.

Here’s a trade secret, Pierre is actually not my brother. Says who? My blood is his and his is mine. I met Pierre when i was 5. We went to elementary school together and coincidentally went to the same church. I was in his younger sister’s class but he and i quickly learned we were cut from the same cloth. From breaking ironing boards cause he thought he was spiderman to breaking windows cause well i don’t know why and thats i got beat in front of him for it lol. Our parent’s became fast friends turned family. To get to this point in our lives, we saw some of the best opportunities life had to offer but we also saw really bad days. Through it all, the constant has been being in each other’s lives. So what can i say, “i’am my brother’s keeper” Lea is one of the most stern yet necessary additions to this family of theirs. My earliest memory of Lea was when we both worked for Uniqlo and she was a manager there. She kicked me off her floor cause she thought i was flirting with her workers… coincidentally im dating said worker today. Aint that funny, how life works lol. No, but truly its an honor and blessing to see this day coming forward cause this public declaration is something she’s BEEN doing since day 1. She’s always challenging Pierre’s intellect, she’s a natural born nurturer. Ive said this to them both that Ketly’s spirit lives within her as she watches over them. That’s it, thats my TedTalk. I’ll save the good stuff for my speech.

In life you have the family you’re born into and along the way you’re introduced to the chosen family God created for you. Lea is not only my best friend, but my chosen family, my sister. I’ve known Lea for the last 15-16 years, but when we met it felt like I’ve known her forever. Lea has always shown me unconditional love and has accepted me with all of my flaws. It’s been such an honor to watch her grow and become a boss, an amazing mother, the baddest one at that because baby two kids where!?!! And now I get to stand beside her as she becomes a wife to Pierre. Words can’t express how happy I am for the two of them and to witness their union. The most beautiful couple with the most beautiful, sweetest family. I can’t wait to fix your train with gloves on lol, and hold your bouquet as you say “I do I do I DO!!”

Pierre and I have shared a bond for about 25 years. It was a friendship that began in our childhood church and has only grown deeper with time. What started as two kids sharing laughs during Sunday school blossomed into a lifelong brotherhood built on trust, loyalty, and love. I was always admired by Pierres hard work, style and loyalty towards his friends and family. What began as a connection through Pierre has grown into a lasting friendship between myself and Leandrea. It's one built on mutual respect, unwavering support, and shared values. Leandrea uplifting spirit always encouraged me and it continues to do so. This will no longer be a friendship but now its family.

I met Pierre while he was illegally living on campus at SUNY Old Westbury. Which, looking back, should’ve been my first clue that this friendship was going to be anything but ordinary. When I found out his full name, I was convinced we might be cousins (because, let’s be honest, there’s a Jean Baptiste in every Haitian family). Since then, we’ve gone from dodging UP to grown-up things like first apartments and first birthdays. Pierre and Leandrea have been my unofficial life coaches, comic relief, and family for over a decade and I wouldn’t trade a single chaotic moment.
