Old Sacramento has a bit of an old west vibe and is on the riverfront. Don't miss the costume shop Evangeline's for some fun browsing if you go! The California State Railroad Museum is also located there.
Capitol Park surrounds the State of California capitol building and has plants from all over the state! It's a pretty park to walk through, and be sure to check out the massive rose garden on the east side of the park.
Old Sugar Mill is a converted building with a dozen or so winery tasting rooms. It's about 45 minutes from the venue, just south of Sacramento. A great destination for good wine without having to drive all the way to Sonoma, Napa, or Lodi.
Apple Hill is a popular destination for apple picking, apple cider doughnuts, apple cider... really all things apple! It's very pretty with the fall leaves and a great place to enjoy with company. Traffic can be a bit of a pain depending on the time of day, but there are lots of farms in Placerville that are considered part of the Apple Hill area. This would be an activity we recommend for the day before or after the wedding when you would have less time restrictions on your schedule in case traffic gets bad.
We love trying out new escape rooms when we travel and we definitely recommend Red Door. Try to escape before the timer runs out!
One of our favorite bars, we like the prohibition vibes and all the delicious cocktail options. Plus this is on the R Street corridor in midtown where there are lots of other cool bars and restaurants we enjoy.
Mas offers lots of fusion tacos along with some traditional options. They also have a great happy hour, with discounted tacos and margaritas. Some of our favorites are the shrimp ceviche, pork belly taco, and mango margarita!
Eric loves making tiki cocktails, so we can't not share the only tiki bar in Sacramento, The Jungle Bird. It has fun vibes and good drinks, but it can get crowded so we recommend making a reservation in advance if you want a seat inside.
Leah and her law school friends were regulars at the Davis location back in the day. They have a massive amount of beer on tap and good pub food. Leah's favorite snack is the pulled pork mac and cheese if you want to go decadent with your beer.
Our favorite place for dim sum, it's easy to see why this place has a Michelin mention. There can be a long wait, so we recommend getting there when they open (11am during the week, 10am on the weekend).
