Our hotel is right by Rittenhouse Square, a great area to wander around in Philadelphia. The park is always lively and a great place to sit and people watch. On Saturday mornings there’s also a farmers’ market in the park. From there you can walk along Walnut Street, which has lots of shops, cafes, and places to pop into while exploring the neighborhood!
Reading Terminal Market is one of the best food spots in the city and definitely worth a visit! It’s a big indoor market filled with vendors selling everything from pastries and cheesesteaks to sandwiches and tons of other good food. Our top pick is always a classic Philadelphia soft pretzel!
The Barnes Foundation is a very unique art museum and just a short ride from center city. It has an incredible collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings (including lots of Renoir and Cézanne) displayed in a really distinctive way. It’s smaller than the Art Museum and easier to do in a couple hours!
If you want to see some of the most historic parts of Philadelphia, we recommend heading to Old City. You can visit places like Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, and walk down Elfreth’s Alley, the oldest continuously inhabited residential street in the U.S.
