Our story

First comes school, then comes marriage

We met at a unique intersection in our lives: Leah was finishing her time at Penn as an undergraduate and Jafar was starting his time as a Penn graduate student. Despite fears that Leah's post-graduate job might take her outside of Philadelphia (spoiler—it did), we took our chances with one another. After an abundantly successful first date where we talked so much over our chips and salsa that we forgot to order actual meals, we immediately became enchanted with one another. So much so that Jafar couldn't resist asking for a second date that very same night. We spent the next several months exploring restaurants, watching movies, and introducing each other to our friends and family. After five quick months, we were at crossroads. Leah had accepted an offer as a paralegal for a non-profit in New York which she couldn't turn down. With much hesitation, we started a new phase of our relationship: one of long, late night Facetimes and stuffy, three-hour bus rides. It took some getting used to but eventually we found our groove and our biweekly visits brought a sense of joy and relief. It also gave us the opportunity to explore a new city, something we both love to do. As Leah's two-year program came to a close, the decision of where to go next was easy. She decided to attend law school at Penn, which meant coming back to Philly and taking the next step in our relationship. We quickly knew the decision was the right one. Waking up every morning together, biking to campus, and sharing stories of our days over dinner has been a dream come true. We are overjoyed to be taking this next step in our story and hope you can join us as we celebrate our love!
