Before Leah and Daniel were even born, their parents were in a young families Bible study at First Baptist Church of Alexandria, swapping meals and parenting tips. Fast forward to Vacation Bible School 2011. Leah was 13 and Daniel was 14. She spotted him in the FBCA Garage and instantly had a huge crush but was way too nervous to say a word for the next ten plus years. Her friends definitely knew all about “that boy from church.” In March 2024, Leah was scrolling Hinge when she saw a familiar face. With help from her sister Gina and childhood best friend Kitty, she sent the perfect first message. Daniel could not believe it. She was gorgeous and he loved that they had grown up in the same church and probably shared the same values. Their first date was a Nats game and by that summer they were officially a couple. It didn’t take long for them to realize this was different. They spent the next year laughing, traveling, and getting to know each other’s families while falling more in love every day. In June 2025, Daniel planned a weekend getaway to a mountain cabin for their anniversary. He was super nervous but with a perfect view and an even better ring, he asked Leah to marry him. The next day, he pulled off a surprise engagement party with their closest friends and family waiting at the Wimmer home. Now, they are getting married at the same church where it all began, proving that God’s timing really is perfect even if it took ten plus years and a dating app to make it happen.
