You can walk onto the ferry, or you can even drive your car onto the ferry. There are no reservations – traffic is boarded on a first come first serve basis. The ferry holds up to 20 cars per boat, and they run every 5-10 minutes. There are 2 different ferries. Ferry Service to Shelter Island is available from both the North Fork of Long Island via Greenport, and the South Fork via Sag Harbor. Ferry Ticket Pricing: North Ferry Tickets via Greenport: Cars: $15 one way or $24 round trip + $3 per additional passenger Walk on: $3 one way Please note: North Ferry is CASH ONLY. Vehicles and bicycles pay on board. For guests who will not have a car or would prefer not to drive, we recommend making transportation arrangements in advance. Please contact Shelter Island Taxi Service by emailing info@shelterislandtaxiservice.com or by calling 631-210-6677 several days prior to your arrival to reserve a ride.
