A Note on Attire

Out of respect for the sacred space, St. Anne Byzantine Catholic Church has requested that guests wear reverent and modest attire to the ceremony. More details can be found in the FAQ section.

How we met - Megan's Story

As most single people can agree, the modern dating pool seems to be filled with shallow, inconsiderate people that are frustrating, rude, and sometimes even malicious. So meeting at all was definitely not a coincidence, but a God-incidence, as our officiant Father Michael likes to say. :) This is especially true for us, as we almost didn't meet at all! A few months before we met in July 2023, I actually swiped left/"no" on Will's profile. Why? I'm really not sure. He was certainly attractive. It was partly for that reason that I did decline! In my experience, the stereotypically attractive ones are not that interested in me romantically -- they often have lots of interested parties already, so I was hesitant. One thing that stood out in his profile, is that it said he was looking for his wife, which I really wasn't ready for at the time. I thought he might have certain ideas of what type of wife, and that I wouldn't fit those ideas; I also thought he might be like the typical military guy that jumps into things too quickly, so I kept looking. A few months later, though, I was over the dating scene. I was longing for someone to be authentic, and to take things seriously, especially their faith in God. That's when Will somehow popped up in my feed again, and this time, I was ready to swipe "yes". And I am so glad I did! From the very beginning, Will was a "value-add", so different than the others who had been draining and demoralizing. He helped me cook and move homes, met me at my group dancing classes when he was nervous about looking silly (he did amazing!), and even agreed to go to the rock climbing gym -- and I had no idea at the time he was afraid of heights! He accepted my children as his own, and survived meeting four different groups of my family in one crazy Christmas road trip. (He told me later it was the first Christmas he had ever not spent at his family's house! I'm so honored.) Life together has already been a wonderful adventure, and it has barely begun. I can't imagine a better partner for the rest of my life. <3
