There are endless things to do in downtown Charleston, whatever you may be interested in. For shopping, check out King Street and the Charleston Historic Market. For some sight-seeing, head down to the Battery to get a good view of the harbor and nearby Rainbow Row and Waterfront Park (with the pineapple fountain). Some of our favorite restaurants to check out downtown are Indaco (Italian), Pink Bellies (Vietnamese), Santi's (Mexican), Husk (Southern), Barsa (Spanish), Coterie (Indian), Church and Union (American), Frannie & The Fox (Pizza), and Carmella's (Dessert). We hope you check some of them out!
Walking the bridge is a fun way to get some exercise and views of the city - it should be great weather in April! While you're in the area, you can also check out USS Yorktown, Fort Sumter, Shem Creek, or spend some time at the South Carolina Aquarium.
The West Ashley Greenway is a straight, flat, eight-mile trail that we like to do when the weather's nice. We hop on at the trailhead near Main Road in Johns Island with views of the marsh and enjoy walking or biking down to Avondale (cool neighborhood in "downtown" West Ashley). Avondale's a great spot to grab a bite (Mellow Mushroom or Triangle Char and Bar) or a drink (Charlestowne Fermentory is a go-to).
You can't go wrong with a good beach day. Edisto Island, Folly Beach, and Sullivan's Island are our typical spots!
This is our go-to brewery in Charleston. We come out for the trivia, bingo, food trucks, and stay for the beer! Daniel’s absolute favorite is Aloha Beaches, give it a try. While you're on Johns Island, go check out the Angel Oak Tree!
Firefly Distillery is right across the street from Holy City Brewing, where we had our first date! It has a great outdoor area with patio games and live music and we enjoy taking our friends who are visiting for the six-pour sample tasting. Great way to relax and spend a few hours!
Edmund's Oast is an awesome place to spend the afternoon, with tasty food and good beer. They have an indoor restaurant, outdoor area, and a covered patio that is great for hanging out when the weather is nice. We love to share the Korean Fried Chicken, Curried Vegetables, and Crispy Garlic Potatoes!
