We met playing one of our favorite sports– tennis! We were introduced through our mutual friend and Layla’s cousin Anna (MOH), who needed players for a doubles match. Layla was all in, and Eladio needed a little convincing but reluctantly agreed. After the match, we grabbed a bite to eat with the group, and what started as a simple game turned into something more. We started texting, then FaceTiming, and before long, group hangouts slowly became just us. Eladio eventually asked Layla to be his girlfriend, and since then we’ve been through a lot together in just eight years: attending prom, working side by side at the family restaurant, graduating from the same university, and annual family vacations with our parents!

Eladio proposed to Layla at the Restoration Hardware Gallery at the DeHaan Estate in Indianapolis. After months of talking about dining at the villa, reservations were made to “celebrate” our parents’ birthdays at the restaurant. Our families traveled down to Indianapolis, and the next day we dressed up and headed to the estate. Shortly after we were seated, Eladio suggested stepping outside to take a quick picture before we started eating. It was cold out, so no one else was on the terrace, which made it a private moment just for us. Once we were out by the lakeside, he got down on one knee and proposed! Our families enjoyed dinner and group photos afterwards making it a night we’ll always remember.
