Finally - thank you for your ongoing love and support. We are so excited to share this day with you and look forward to dancing (and drinking) the night away with all of our favorite people!

All 's Fair in Love and Learning

The Beginning of a Beautiful Love Story

Jasmine and Lawrence met during their sophomore year at Coastal Carolina University (CCU). As the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) social chair, Lawrence had the responsibility of finding talent for their most popular event, "Essence of the Struggle". The showcase was designed to honor Black Americans for their historic achievements. This year, the organization wanted to pay homage to the great Gregory Hines. So, the search for a black tap dancer led Lawrence to Jasmine since she had performed at a different multicultural event the year prior. Several weeks of long practices allowed them to become better acquainted. Once the show concluded, the two still remained in contact. After a few days, Lawrence took initiative and invited Jasmine on a date to see the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater perform. It was an amazing evening from start to finish. From this point on, they held valuable roles in each other's lives. After graduating from CCU, the couple was sent in two different directions physically. Jasmine moved to Virginia to attend Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, and Lawrence moved to Georgia after accepting a job with the CDC. He also attended Morehouse School of Medicine for his graduate degree. However, the challenges of navigating a long-distance relationship didn't faze these two. They created the "$300 vacation plan" to be able to travel without going broke while pursuing advanced education. One thing about this couple is that they will enjoy the "finer things" in life, but it has to be on a budget.

The Proposal

Lawrence planned a graduation party to celebrate Jasmine's accomplishment of becoming a veterinarian. However, a life changing surprise was coming her way at the end of night. Sitting outside surrounded by family and friends, Lawrence started a speech focused on appreciation and celebration, then he transitioned into a heavenly crafted poem about their exquisite love story that ended with a proposal. So, in 2021 on May 30th, these two made the decision to start planning for a life together forever under the covenant of marriage. Over the past 8 years, Jasmine and Lawrence have built a beautiful friendship which made for a strong foundation in their relationship. Now being finished with all advanced schooling and settled into amazing careers, these two cannot wait to begin their marriage journey.
