Some of you already know the history behind Joe and Shannon. Heck, some of you even knew them back in 1998! For those of you new to their story, they were in elementary school together! Joe moved to a new house in New Berlin and started school with Shannon in 4th grade. Through neighborhood friends and 90's technology (some of you may remember instant messaging) the two of them chatted online, rode bikes around Regal Manor and played in the neighborhood creeks. Shannon had her first boy/girl party the summer before 6th grade and Joe was there! Once 6th grade ended, Shannon went to New Berlin Eisenhower and Joe moved to New Berlin West territory and the two became BITTER RIVALS. Kidding. But that was that, they went on to grow into who they are today.
Fast forward many years to 2013. Pat Pollich had stayed in touch with both of them throughout high school and years after graduation. Shannon met Pat out for a drink in the area. After catching up with him, he mentioned he was going to Joe's house later that night. Shannon lit up at the mention of Joe, her childhood crush from the past and tagged along to Joe's house. As they say, the rest is history and the two of them never looked back! A few years later, Joe let it slip that he had to go change his outfit before Shannon came over for that night so he was ready to impress for her!
Joe and Shannon went to New York City over Memorial Day weekend of 2018. They both had always talked about how that would be the first trip they took together. Neither of them had ever been and it sounded like a cool trip to explore a new city together. ....that being said Shannon had a *feeling* that this trip might be special. Anyway, they bar hopped around their neighborhood the first night and tried some local restaurants. The next day they took the ferry to Liberty Island to see the Statue of Liberty. On the way home Joe suggested to get a bottle of wine for when they stopped at their rental to get ready for the night. Upon discovering there was no wine opener in the rental they tried every googled trick and tool available to get that sucker open! With much force, they enjoyed large glasses of wine with a few flecks of cork and cheers-ed to NYC. Joe disappeared to the bedroom and Shannon checked her make-up in the living room mirror. When she turned, Joe was on one knee taking a ring out of a AAA battery box! The next wonderful minute blurred together as Joe proposed! Of course she said Yes!
