In Spain you can pay with credit card in almost all cases. Depending on your bank, you may need to alert them before your trip that you’ll be using your card, to avoid any flags or declined charges. If you wish to use cash, we recommend going to an ATM once in Bilbao to withdraw Euros. This will require a small fee (around €3 to €7 per withdrawal), however, it will likely be cheaper than exchanging at the airport.
Visit https://www.inyourpocket.com/bilbao/sightseeing for some great options locally. The bride and groom will also be planning excursions on 9/3 and 9/4 to give you the full experience if you choose to opt in. More details on the excursions can be found on the "Schedule & Excursions" page of the website.
Bilbao has two official languages, Spanish and Basque. Everyone will speak Spanish but you will find signs that are in both languages. While we encourage everyone to brush up on their Rosetta Stone, luckily you'll find that most Spaniards can converse in English as well.
You will have plenty to do within walking distance from the hotels. Bilbao also has a very clean and efficient subway system for travel further than downtown Bilbao, including the beach which takes 1 hour via the subway. Any transportation related to organized wedding events will be provided by the bride and groom.
There are pharmacies within walking distance of hotel. There will always be a 24 hours pharmacy within walking distance as well. Pharmacies have a bright green cross outside of the store.

It is not obligatory to give tips in Spain, as all establishments include the service charge. However, it is common to give tips in bars and restaurants, hotels and taxis. The amount of the tip depends on the amount of the bill and the generosity of the client, although it usually varies between two and five percent of the total bill.
You will need to purchase an adapter in order to plug in all electric appliances (phone and computer chargers and, for the ladies, if you use any styling tools). You can purchase them easily on amazon titled "European plug adapter". Like the rest of Europe, Spain’s electrical grid uses a frequency of 50 Hz and a voltage of 230V. Appliances rated between 220V and 240V are safe to plug into Spanish sockets, so check your tools (i.e hair dryers if you bring your own) to make sure they will be compatible.
Most airports and hotels have free wifi available. In order to use your phone outside of wifi (using data plan), we recommend you reach out to your provider to understand your international options. (ex: AT&T is $10/day for data use.)
