FAQs

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Cocktail/casual attire is recommended for the reception. Laurie & Caleb will plan on wearing their dress & suit. The venue is outside. Bring a sweater if desired. Wedges or sandals would be recommended versus heels, due to a grassy terrain.

Question

When & how can I RSVP?

Answer

Please RSVP here on their wedding website as soon as possible. If you are unable to do so please send an email to lauriekilcup@gmail.com

Question

Why did you have such a small wedding?

Answer

Both Caleb & Laurie have always wanted to get married on a beach & a huge wedding just never felt natural to either of them. They not only have a lot of amazing friends, that have helped shape them into the individuals they are today, but they also have a lot of family. I mean a LOT. Laurie has 18 first cousins on one side for starters. It seemed best to have an intimate ceremony with immediate family & then celebrate with ALL of their people afterwards. They hope you understand, respect their wishes, know that they love all of you, & that they can’t wait to celebrate with everyone.

Question

Where did you honeymoon?

Answer

With the world ever changing, they honeymooned for three weeks in the Hawaiian Islands versus going abroad. A place where Caleb could catch some waves & Laurie could wear her bikini all day. Laurie loved showing Caleb around her favorite place in the world, where she previously spent a few years living & he had never been. They had an absolute blast & took plenty of pictures to prove it. They surfed, bodysurfed, paddleboarded, snorkeled, hiked, skydived, swam with dolphins, explored water caves & lava tubes & blow holes, ate lots of local food, went on a catamaran cruise, climbed to a waterfall that dumps into the ocean, did a manta ray night swim, fed wild horses in a remote valley, caught plenty of sunsets, hammocked at plenty of beaches, & met some of Laurie’s friends.

Question

How did he propose?

Answer

Caleb proposed on August 29th, exactly 5 months after they first ran into each other at sunset. He tried to do it at the very same spot on the dock, but it was full with a Saturday night fishing crowd when they arrived. They went to the inlet at Smyrna Dunes Park & walked the boardwalk instead. Unfortunately, there was no sunset in sight, daylight was fading fast, & a giant thunderstorm was rolling overhead. Caleb got down on one knee on an entirely empty beach with lightning surrounding them and asked the question. All the while, he had a hidden photographer chasing them around the island, sitting in the sand dunes getting eaten by sand fleas. She was quite a sport!

Question

What does a typical day look like for both of you?

Answer

A day in the life with them is not exactly routine. Laurie has a couple per diem jobs as a Physical Therapist Assistant that keep her busy, yet give her the freedom to manipulate her schedule. Boxing is another thing she has a heart for. She coaches non-contact boxing classes for people with Parkinson’s. She enjoys having flexibility this way for adventures, travel, & letting Caleb steal a lot of her time. Caleb happens to have the same similar entrepreneurial spirit. He freelances in the film industry. He works on any sort of gigs ranging from feature films, music videos, the Indy Racing Series, or commercials. He could be out of state for a week or home for a week, just depends! One thing is certain, he surfs whenever he can. When they’re together they enjoy surfing, SUPing, exploring springs, taking their hammocks to the beach, riding their bikes around the island, trying out new recipes, or dreaming about building a tiny home & getting another pup!

Question

Wasn’t the wedding supposed to be March 29, 2021?

Answer

Yes, it was! However, with all the uncertainty in the world they felt it best to get married early! So after initially shooting for a small Hawaii elopement, then planning a small Florida wedding instead, then changing it back to an intimate wedding in Hawaii, they finally ended up pulling together an intimate Florida wedding with just immediate family & a few best friends in 11 days! Phew!!

For all the days along the way
