Alex and Lauren first met at Duke circa 2008, though the exact details of the time and place remain hazy. They became closer when they ended up on the same study abroad program in Florence, Italy and landed on a co-ed soccer team together. After graduation, Lauren went west to Portland and Alex north to NYC. It wasn't until 2015 when Lauren moved to New York that they reconnected. In 2017, they moved to Washington, D.C. and in April 2019 Alex popped the question.
